Hi, i have just started up and would like it if you could have a look at my team, any suggestions to start with would be great

You have joined at an interesting time of the season. The playoffs start next week and at the end of the playoffs is the draft where u will get 3 new 18 year olds. The younger players are the faster they train so the draft hopefully will be kind to u. There is only 1 game of the regular season to go and the team you were given is in 4th so it might make the playoffs. The starting team u got is not bad as far as starting teams go iv'e seen a lot worse. Its a good idea to read the manual and help forums before u jump in spending as there are a few mistakes u can make when your starting out.

One of the most common mistakes is overvaluing potential. Teams see that they have a 23 year old with superstar potential on their original team and think he will make a good trainee. POTENTIAL DOES NOT AFFECT HOW FAST A PLAYER TRAINS it only affects what level he can be trained to before training slows. So if 2 players have similar low skills one is 18 and allstar potential the other is 23 with superstar potential the 18 year old is the better trainee because the 23 year old will never reach his full potential. Check your mail be easier to help if u can see the skills of your players.

Overrating potential is a mistake i made early on in the game and i payed for it slightly but my team is gradually getting better.

Also i'd like to add something: don't trust the DMI, it is an incredibly ROUGH guide as to how good a player is, it also is greatly affected by the player's game shape. Generally especially at the beginning of a season when salaries have been updated its a good idea to check that as well. Like Aussie dude said the younger the player the better the train-ability but other factors such as Height come in to play.

Obviously if you have an 18yo with P.Allstar potential, if his salary is like 1k it means his skills are rather low. You want your trainee to have at least decent all round stats when you start so be mindful of that.

DMI is evil. Look at a players's skills, age and height and make a decision from there.

i overated it when i joined :( But ye i've learned a lot since then.

Just started out in Div 4. Looking for a mentor for the rest of the season to get the tips that only experienced players know of. Anyone available or interested? I'm a pay-it-forward kid of guy, more than willing to do the same for others once I've been trained. Really enjoying this game so far and it definitely has me hooked.

I read the manual and the forum guide. It's pretty comprehensive. Keen for a few specifics and tips so I'll do what you said. Cheers guys.
