Well said akuma.

I hate it that with a few weeks left to finals some people buy up big. That also doesn't happen in real life. This is supposed to be a 'real life' simulation, no?

What about in EPL?

Dont players play for other clubs whilst on short term leases or contracts before returning to their original club.

With luck my 2 beasts will play their last game for HA tomorrow night against Hadders.

If they dont sell I will have one more go at selling them before the next financial update.

Only 70K worth of cup winnings up for grab this week where as next week if I can keep on winning there are 2 games worth 180K collectively

HA is extremely pleased to welcome back to the club a foundation team member in Arthur Berne.

first of all, this is a basketball sim, not a soccer one, so if anything, it should be emulating what happens in the NBA, not in EPL.

secondly, i dont know much about EPL but i very highly doubt situations where a team would be able to bring in a marquee player for 1 or 2 games. would love to see an example.

i could see situations where shitty players are brought in for short term to cover gaps due to injuries etc - such as nba teams calling up players from D-League, or picking some scrub from free agency. But a marquee, high salary player brought in for a few games? Can you imagine a player like Dwight Howard hopping from team to team every week or so to new teams needing a high salary rental?

I think what you did was well within the bounds of the game mechanics, and was a very strategic and smart decision based on how BB works, but surely even you must see that this is a huge flaw in the game that needs to be addressed if the goal is to be a simulation game that represents real world mechanics.

I think the BBs are taking the right step in season 24 to address this, it remains to be seen whether their solution will work or whether it will need more fine tuning.

You can loan players in EPL, but there is a loan deadline well before the end of the season. And you can't play for more than two clubs in the same season. And the EPL doesn't have finals.

Im no historian but I once heard or read somewhere about how around the time of the Boer war the British Generals were flawed in that they believed in the "ethics/conventions of war" and could not accept that their armies were being slaughtered because the enemy armies refused to follow these ethics/conventions and traditions.

Apparantly the game is going to change but for the time being "it is what it is"

time for some Linguistic commentary. gonna play a bit of Devils advocate here.

Firstly, yes - BB is bring in new rules which will hopefully make it less viable fo the tanking and the short term hiring and the selling and the renting and this tactic in general. I think BB are doing good things with regards to this - they got rid of the 5th placed financial advantage thingy, and are bringing in incentives for people to finish in the finals etc.
so these are all good things.
And hopefully this will make the game more realistic, as Akuma says rightly so, no real life situation exists where people can rent Dwight Howard for a week. so hopefully these improvements will make the game more realistic.

Secondly - Just an observation of mine - of all the teams that ive seen tank/buy up big towards end of season, rent a big, etc, ie: Do all these short term gain things - I've never seen one succeed long term. This is why I don't do this tactic. There are multiple teams in this league that have the capacity to do it, and have had that capacity to do it yet choose not to. why? Probably because there is something tactically long term wrong with it. I dont mean ethically wrong, i mean, Buzzerbeaterally(new word!)

Thirdly - I was watching a terrible terrible Aliens movie the other day, can't remember what it was, must've been Alien v Predator - "The enemy of my enemy is my friend"
If i remember correctly, it didnt work out to well for them.

Congrats to you Hadders you beat me TIE, stuffing up my next home crowd and game shapes in the process.

The better balanced team won, well done

Probably a few people who might think the loss was Karma

I guess there is always next season for me

Calculation - correct me if im wrong.

2 x Linares Weekly salary - $434,000
Sale Profit (Approx) + $30,000
Cup Winnings + $60,000

Total net loss on Linaries = $340,000
Is that about right?

I only paid the one weeks salary on Linares .

Must admit selling him sort of made up for losing to Hadders.

Profit after tax was $21,040.

Agreed, bringing in rentals should never be a successful strategy. Enforcing a minimum contract period of e.g. 8 weeks would be a much better way of discouraging this strategy.
