Thank you Chucarro and MrJ for your commitment, the list of Season 3 teams (here: (327516.86)) has now once again been updated!

Like Chucarro, I am here for the long-term development and growth of the HGL.

I would always like to be a part of this competition. Please put my name down, Wagner.

(y)

UTOPIAN ONLY HOME GROWN LEAGUE:

Next season I will be trying to get the Utopian HG League (name yet to be decided) up and running and hope this will slowly become bigger and bigger over the coming seasons...and years. Currently there are only a handful of known HG Utopian teams.

Sadly, this means that the current Home Grown Kings (HGK) Private League, once completed by the first half of next season (70), will be replaced with a Utopian-Only Home Grown Private League. This is due to a few reasons:

1. To remove a competitor to the HGL. Why? To funnel all HG teams into one large competition without dividing our HG community.
2. Promote and foster Utopian Home Grown teams. Why? Because Utopian teams are currently not recognised by or welcome in the HGL.
3. To provide a competition for HG Utopian teams. Why? To provide a competition for HG Utopian teams who have no other means of competing with like-minded HG teams.

So, any and all Utopian Home Grown teams wishing to be a part of this new league, please let me know via bbmail.

Thank you.

PS. If you would like to put forward a name suggestion for this new league, please do so. I would only ask, after many conversations with Wagner, that perhaps the name chosen is not too similar to the HGL.

Thank you, MrJ, for your reconsideration on this matter and making an excellent decision by restricting current Home Grown Kings-league (which name is about to change in the future, as you mentioned) to Utopian teams only.

I believe this has been an important decision, and will benefit HG community way more than having a direct competitor of HGL around.

With this decision, now both leagues cater for different teams so to speak, which removes the direct competition between two leagues, HGL and HGK. (While technically of course, manager owning a Utopian team as well could participate for both leagues with their main and Utopian teams, but I believe you got my point).

The Utopian HG team count may be currently somewhat small, but I have confidence on your ability to promote the league for Utopian HG teams only, as you seem to be good at presenting new concepts and ideas clearly (and sometimes, most importantly when it gets to getting things done, also getting other people excited about those ideas).

While naturally my main focus mostly remains at finding new interested teams for HGL, I´ve also tried to think (which we all can try to think of) new ideas on how to find also new Utopian HG teams, and present ideas to MrJ.

Currently we haven't found an easy way to search/browse for potential HG teams from BB team database (for the lack of better term, as we of course don't have access to any special 'database'), but if one has an idea how this can be accomplished easily and effectively it would help both HGL and Utopian homegrown league (or whatever the name will be).

So all please share your ideas, if you have any, how would it be possible to find new HG teams (main teams and Utopian teams) most effectively.

As you mentioned, MrJ, it would be perfect if the name of the Utopian HG league (including abbreviation) in the future wouldn´t remind of HGL, to distinguish leagues more easily/clearly.
This, of course, is out of my control (and is not nearly as important thing as those changes MrJ already has decided to do with regards to current HGK/future Utopian HG league), but it´d be a good thing if those names wouldn´t be too similar.

League table(s) updated again.
Some interesting matches on Rounds 6 and 7, especially Suuret Muinaiset vs. Hårdboll - the classic Finland vs. Sweden match, which always holds and extra emotion for us Finns at least - which thriller Hårdboll won by 1... And they continued their exciting season by beating another Finnish team (yes, myself) by 6 on Round 7...

Which brings me to somewhat interesting statistics concerning Hårdboll: they have played in 4 matches that have been decided by 6 points or less this season, and have managed to win them all.
Elan Demars, on the other hand, has lost 2 out of 2 of his this seasons' tight games (2 and 3 points), and would be at 6-1 if they would´ve been able to find way to win both.

Lielupes Melnas Sirdis was also able to get an important 11 point victory against their (currently) closest rival, Freccia Azzurra, on Round 7.

On Round 8 I´m especially looking forward to RAJ vs. HB (for example great performance by RAJ against strong SUM on Round 7, and HB also won SUM in a close match on Round 6 so this could be an interestijng and close matchup, and HB also has almost perfect 6-1 record this season). Having said that, there are of course other interesting and important matchups as well, but I unfortunately don't have time to write about them right now... Please feel free to write something (thoughts, speculation about the match outcome/results, etc.) about the Round 8 matches if you guys feel like it. :)

I love this HGL, It is a great opportunity to challenge the best HG teams of BB.

So I would like to join to the next (and all futures) season of the HGL!

Wagner is a very good Commissioner, he has passion and love for this game, and I appreciate it!

W the HGL ;)

Excellent decision, Coach Faz and SventraCanestri, I´m glad to see you both on Season 3!

And thanks very much for you words SventraCanestri, It´s nice to hear that my passion for HGL (and BB) seems to be noticed by some others as well, especially in terms of finding me being suitable for this position. :)

With this update ((327516.86)) what becomes to participating teams, only 2 current HGL teams have not yet confirmed their participation to Season 3: Rajdersi and Hårdboll.

Still plenty of time to consider decision, as we are only about halfway through the Regular Season and I´ll be waiting for decisions on Season 3 participation until the start of Season 2 Playoffs (preferably sooner though, if possible).

Cthulhu sings up for a third season.

That's brilliant news, as among other positive things it also means that local rivalry of Finnish teams still continues on Season 3 (which Suuret Muinaiset currently leads 2 wins to 0, may I remind;)!

HGL league tables on both official threads have now been updated.

I made a mid-season check on teams' own box score posts, and noticed that some managers have not started filling out their scores of the Season 2 to their box score posts.

This is a friendly reminder to all that have not yet started the practice to fill out those Season 2 scores, that it's mandatory to add scores of your own matches to your own box score post. In other words, it remains mandatory, even if you send a separate box score post of your each match to Scores-thread (which on the other hand is not mandatory to do).

As you all likely already know, easiest way to reach your own box score post is to use link after your team name on this post, here: (327517.4), or to bookmark your teams' box score page to your browser.

Round 9 didn't seem to offer any close ones, but still couple of notes about Round 9 matches:

WAG vs. RAJ 121-132:
In this high-scoring affair RAJ was able to even up the all-time winning record between the teams to 1-1 (after suffering 4 point defeat on Season 1) in a match that was, strangely enough, played in Iisalmi, Finland (neutral court, really?;). Even large crowd of cheering WAG fans were not enough to make this a close call, as it was clear during the whole match practically that RAJ will travel back to Poland with 2 points in their pocket. While RAJ lost the competition on charity stripe (76 vs. 91%), they were shooting FG at 58% (and choosing an offensive tactics that was able to outplay my tactical choice) which is usually a guaranteed way to victory unless there are some big differences on other statistical categories, and that was the case yesterday as well.

HB vs. D 112-97:
15 point difference on the score table at the end, which was only 9 before the 4th. HB seemed to choose a good tactics compared to D's defense tactics (and guess on opponents' offensive focus), which led them to score 18 more points behind the 3 point arc than their opponent. While HB lost rebounds by 9 and blocks by 6, HB having 9 to 1 (!) assists to turnovers-ratio and finishing in a clinical manner from the free throw line (26 out of 27!) ensured that due to HB's win Sweden-Spain matchup records in HGL stands at 1-0 currently.

SUM vs. EOS 104-87:
In a battle of Nordic teams, strong SUM team was able to get 13 more second chance FG attempts than their opponent (and won total rebounds by 19), and had a 7-1 edge on blocks. 8 players from SUM scored 9 points or more, so they were hard team to defend as so many players have some (or a lot of) offensive capability. (That´s actually the story in a regular BB league as well for SUM, as 8th best scorer in their team on this Season 69 has scored 10.2 ppg in their "regular BB league", Suomi II.4). Shooting-wise the percentages were somewhat similar on both teams, but SUM had 19(!) more FG attempts than EOS, which was one of the key factors in my opinion in terms of winning the match.

VPO vs. ED 91-78:
ED wasn't too far from offering another upset on consecutive rounds, this time against a team with a perfect 8-0 record, as they actually led the match by 2 before the 4th quarter. A heat of the Mexico (yes, a long way for both teams to play a match, but luckily HGL covers the travel costs;) was too much for the ED this time around, as they lost the 4th by 15 points. Heat didn't cause shooters to be on fire though, as both teams had a very cold shooting night behind the arc; ED at 0% (0 out of 10!) and VPO at 19% (3 out of 16). Even though ED shot extremely well from the free throw line (22 out of 23), giving VPO 9 more second chance attempts (than they were able to get themselves) was too much for them to handle.
EDIT: Temperature check. Now that I checked out recent temperatures, it seems like it's actually colder in Mexico than it is in Italy or in France, so there we have an explanation for the cold shooting hands!

Here's a list of essential HGL links in general and for Season 2 specifically: (327516.6).

Like you can see, it's still a work in progress, however the message character limitation is already restricting further input. However, if you notice some essential missing links, please do not hesitate to contact me and I'll try to remove some characters from some explanatory parts of the post in order to be able to add more links.
