Now that I'm off of my mobile phone...

I love patient. I think it's great. I also think people expect it to 'just work' no matter how their team is built.

My two last games in my private league:

This one the team is considered very good and I was expecting him to destroy me. Looking back at pps for the different positions, I think I may have won running my usual motion. Full court presses aren't that great in my opinion, especially not against my team which has a reasonable amount of passing for every position.

This team I have a rivalry with (I worked with the guy...) and he has had a better team than me for the past season and a half or so, his salaries are something like $260k compared to my $210k and has been able to whip me for a while. I ran patient and smacked him to pieces, +20 while starters are on the court, only ended up +11 overall due to my scrubs playing the last 2 minutes of the game. The mismatches that I gave on the offensive end also had benefits like causing his players to foul out easier as well.

Interesting point about these games is the adjustment in the player that scored my points for where he took his shots:
First game, matched up against a shooting guard, his high driving/team passing got him to within a couple feet of the basket for layups.
Second game, matched up against a center (better ID), his high driving/team passing got him to take mid range jumpers from the free throw line. He also took more threes.

I think the offense works. No idea how I would fare against a 3-2 D, whether my passing would be enough to counteract it. I simply think people complaining about it are just thinking "slow form of base offense, equal sharing". I think it's more about the ability to generate a shot and people are not building these players properly.

No idea if I'm right and these are just a couple of games, but I think it adds to the discussion a little.

Not sure about this - maybe the 3-2 stuffed me, maybe my guy had a bad game, maybe he would have had a better matchup at C and would have played well? I need to experiment more and hope other people can help answer these questions.

I have to say that I've been a bigger fan of patient than I am now. A good OD shuts it down. It seems impossible to have your PF/C take the majority of the shots, even though you have decent offensive flow.

My inside players should have a day at the park against them, and take a lot more shots than they did.

I also had a PF that had 11 JS and 7 JR this past season and while playing patient he didn't take a lot of shots. I might try it again in future games, but right now doesn't seem like a winning tactic to me.

Have you tried low post or inside iso? That maight do the trick.

Never tried inside iso on a serious game, but I assume that for low post my inside players need to have very good secondaries so they don't commit so many turnovers. I have one inside player with atrocious passing but I might be willing to try it in the future, let's see.

it goes to your best shooter, which leads to a crazy tactic of switched offensiv positions.

Yes, I would guess that patient is the outside iso.

Maybe I'll use patient when I face week outside defenses or want to train my guards inside, will see if it works.

So, does that mean that if you have an amazing shooter, which eventually will result in taking most of the shots (with Patient), then Patient might be a good offensive tactic?

i don't rate IS on guard pretty high, but especially in poatient my experience that you take outside shots so i wouldn't look to much for IS.

I think also my exaamples show, missmatches in the IS and ID comparision with solid shooting performances of the scoring dude.
