Or you could realise that if you ask 100 people you'll get 100 different answers and that you should then just do what works best for you after trying different things out. :D

Yeah I agree. Consider this: each professionally held running event (ie City to Surf) has all contestants stretch (en masse) before the event starts. That is, professional athletes (can't remember who it was last year but previous years have seen national rugby players, basketball players etc) go through stretching routines with thousands of people all stretching at the same time. At the finish line, however, there is powerade and water but no-one saying "make sure you stretch now". Whether this is because people finish the race at different times or it isn't deemed as important as stretching prior to the race. There's my two bob's worth. :-)

Have game companies gone mad? i am a gamer.. have been for a long time.. Recently, Maxis/EA re-launched 1 of my favorite games of all time Sim City..

I get home tonight, and notice companies have started taking pre-orders for the game.. the game is not due out until 2013, well into 2013 from what i read, 1 company has listed the release date as 31/12/2013..

Is it just me, or are these pre-orders really starting to take the piss?? I can not think of any other business, where they take your money, and say come back in 12 months and get your product... 2-3 month pre-order i can get, but 12 months???

Then of course, if you pre-order from 1 place you get some bonus content, if you go to another store you get different content.. what ever happened to just paying your $$$ and getting the whole fricking game???

should you stretch after doing exercise? i thnk i recall someone saying you shouldnt, as when you exercise you gets micro-tears in your muscles, and when you stretch that muscle after exercise you worsen the micro-tears and risk injury. was wondering if you knew anything about that.

When to Stretch is a nice topic. Answering your question, after exercise is ideal.

Why? Your body and muscles are warmed up! Especially after weight training/running. What do your muscles do when you run or lift weights? The fibres contract and shorten! you need to lengthen those bad boys if you wish to maintain or improve your bodies range of motion and have nice strong long flexible muscle fibres.

And stretching post exercise has been shown to aid recovery.

Stretching while a muscle is cold is not ideal and not recommended by professionals as the stretching will have a slight risk of a strain or muscle fibre tear.

So if you shouldnt stretch before exercise, what should you do? RANGE OF MOTION WARM UP!

Eg, your doing a chest training session, do a high range of reps witha very low weight at first, under control and start very slow. Build the pace up over a few mins and work upto the working speed and weight.

Do the same for running. Start with a walk, light jog and build the pace up to your usual running pace (which should vary!)

Strech slowly and hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds (static stretching).

Dynamic stretching is a bit more for advanced athletes and i wouldnt recommend it.

BOOM! Train hard
