I know, I just don't use the term "farm team" as a negative. But it is pretty much the same type of term. It is pretty much doing the same thing, but structured.

but in this thread it is about training high salary "star" Players, not your second row for your team.

Then should it say "star players" instead of farm team. The topic started of talking about farm teams and I think they are still talking about farm teams.

Farm teams in this and other similar games refer to teams that are exist not to be competitive, but to maintain one star player and his huge salary.

The thread discusses exactly the same thing from start to finish.

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

i fully support you.

It's a cheap way to get good NT players. If it doesn't get banned, it's just a matter of time till more will make these kind of teams and simply build up mosters!!

Other suggestion:

The NT should pay 25% of the salary of a NT player, that way the good team could afford having one in their rows.

otherwise soon NT players will be just a garbage needed just by NTs... That is totally unrealistic that best players wont get job course they are just to good for any team in BB world course those can`t afford to pay their wage

I've been reading this thread for a while, and I still don't understand the problem.

Low level teams are screwing themselves out of wins in order to train NT beasts? More wins for me, and if I don't need one of their hugely expensive players to move up divisions, so much the better. I'll grow some good ones of my own along the way.

High-level teams can't afford to pay for the best players? Not my problem, since I'm not there yet, but obviously it hasn't kept those teams from achieving.

The only real gameplay issue seems to be national teams being populated by players that don't play in the better leagues in their countries. I agree that this is unrealistic and is a good reason, standing alone, to regulate farming. Perhaps the solution, rather than institute a salary cap to control the providers, is to go after the facilitators. Prohibit national teams from acquiring players whose salaries are more than X times the average salary of their team, and make X some number calculated to eliminate the possibility of a team with one guy at $100K and 6 or 7 guys at $5-6K placing their superstar on the national team.

This will actually open up NT participation to more people in lower divisions, not fewer, and will only shaft the people who farm.

I would better agree that NT player should play at least in div 3 team, not lower...

Or for example make something like div 4 max players wage not more then 20k, div3-35k, div2 50k, div1- no limit...

this would create at least something that would control the situation...

i think the problem is, that the IV Divion teams with those NT Cracks are probably teams from II or I Div Managers, just using a diffrent IP.

Just get things straight! Who of you guys thought of training just one player when they started in BB? do you enjoy loosing all the time? would you even know how to train a proper player?

My honest opinion is no, no, no.. it takes time to understand the game, to understand how training works etc, so i highly doubt those "farm teams" are just a team of a happy guy, who doesn't have a second bb team.

just my 2 cents

Part of my point was not to place any restrictions on the teams in BB, except for the national teams. I don't believe the economic restrictions are necessary, as I don't see how a Div. IV team in the USA is going to make much more than $110K on home games, if that. That's about where I topped out when I won my Div. IV championship -- if others make more money in USA Div. IV, speak up.

Now, the issue is that if you stripped down a team in USA Div. IV but could still manage to pull in about $100K per week from home games, you could afford to farm for one superstar player as long as you sold him once he hit about $70 or $80 K, i.e. you could get him up in salary near what you make in revenue before he became too big an economic problem. However, I think your solution creates more problems than it solves. What happens when a player in Div. IV gets good enough to make $30K? Do you take him away from his team? Do you stop paying him more? Do you stop him from training to get better?

That's why I like the idea of controlling what the national teams do, not what the regular teams do. Want realism? The national teams should simply be kept from taking players from farm teams on the ground that such players don't play on the national stage, with real competitive teams, and therefore are not properly representative of their countries' basketball talent. If you want to stretch your finances and lose games to make a great player, fine, but you won't do that and get him on the national team. And have no fear that the BB equivalent of Kobe or LeBron will languish on one of these teams, because they can't afford to keep him and will eventually have to sell him to a real team (which can then put him on the NT).
