We wont have something that excludes Cup winners.

NO ONE at this table ordered a rum & Coke
Charles: Penn has some good people
A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

Considering the starting 142 teams this season, and removing HCA, here's my proposal:

week 1: 14 games to eliminate 14 teams
week 2-4 (128 teams): 32 groups of 4 teams (3 games each team), 1st of each group goes to next round
week 5-7 (32 teams): 8 groups of 4 teams (3 games each team), 1st of each group goes to next round
week 8-10 (8 teams): 2 groups of 4 teams (3 games each team): 1st of each group goes to the final
week 11 (2 teams): final

- No seeding to preserve some random
or
- Seed based on the world ranking or number of active teams, so that we can avoid the "small country advantage factor"

The 2 finalists would play 10 games instead of 7
Last 8 teams would play 9 games instead of 5
Last 32 teams would play 6 games instead of 3
Last 128 teams would play 3 games instead of 1

I don't like the idea of groups stages, etc. I like the idea of a one-and-done tournament. You lose? Go home and hope to make it next year. And just like the FA CUp, luck of the draw is luck of the draw. Removing HCA is an idea that I can take or leave in the early rounds, although I would prefer to keep it. From the Sweet 16 on, games should be played at a neutral site for sure. And setting team enthusiasm at a constant level for all teams seems like an okay idea, especially since it will benefit Asian teams...

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

Laim made it to the next round, and they are experienced in beating Bulls ;)

i am surprised, the ratings with this cheap salary are impressive from Vitoria, and to be honest i thougth that wouldn't be enough since the quarterfinal ;)

Valiant effort by Djembe who just came up across the favourite since Round 5. Personally I disagree with your assessment on the Devils, I'd have chosen to draw stogey out of the final 8 had I still been involved...but as we've seen in Private Leagues most teams now can overcome one another on any given day although HCA does still tilt the scales in the key matchups more often than not.

I guess we've all got 1 more chance to sell our prize assets for a kings ransom ahead of the final showdown!

on salary basis i find both of them pretty weak for this kind of competion, but they should have a secret else they won't be that far in the competition because homecourt isn't everything.(Laim for example win a lot in our league, which is in salary aspect stronger then these two teams - and they beat strong teams on the road to the (semi) final)

I thought I would have been out since the 3rd round, game against Hostivar.

The salaries are low but I guess the team somehow works together very well, the right people seem to get the shots in the right time, and the rebounding is good for a team that specializes in outside players.

Still the Devils seems definitely weaker than the others. So people in Brazil tried to find other explanations. They seem to believe that form and high experience seem to be helping the Devils a lot.

I don't know. I guess all of that, together with 3 of the first 5 games at home, and the good tactics in the semi, have led to this.

But I think I ran out of aces in my sleeves now. Can't think of any miraculous way in which I could beat Laim. Maybe the good old "give the ball to Amaury and get the hell out of the way" will at least make it fun. :D
