Did the market go belly up or something? Second GFC for sure.

Bought Moylan off you for 2mil and Tully goes for only 1.7mil! Then you go and buy a better guard then Moylan for only 1mil.

Damm I should've just tanked it this season...

Oh FFS!!! That manager have been fielding a 6 player rotation in all of his matches so far this season. Not looking good. Even Radford was already going to be on fringe gameshape all season, now Braithwaite also?

How about you getting almost 50% more rebounds with only a slight edge in the rating?

Good point, 56 rebounds to 38, yet the ratings were proficient (high) to proficient (low)

Anyone got an explanation for that

Also I had more turnovers though, my 10 to your 4.

Played "let coach decide", and he decided to lose the game by flogging my starters to exhaustion rather than letting capable bench players come on.

Your backups dont get much time, curious as to how you do your substitutions?

Given the edge I had in players "Game shapes" and it was a TV game it was a horrible horrible loss

It is not just big men that are cheap. I have seen/heard of muliple 100K SGs selling for around $600k. Almost any dummy now can create a killer team now as long as they have enough savings/income to pay them each week.

Yes now, they can now, can't they now, you should be ok then....now...

I am way too far down the path of quality cost effective players to change direction now. If I had just kept all my money I could easily buy a $1 million roster and smash everyone by 30 every week and promote again. But then what? Sell all the young players and train GS each week. Overpaid and underperforming roster that kicks butt in division II and gets beaten in the ABBL. Sounds like a recipe for going nowhere. The trouble is if a team is willing to do it it will be hard to stop them.

Sure, quality, cost effective players is the way to go...I would not call someone a 'dummy' for going the other way...They have surely earned their right to do it by keeping their money?

I wasn't saying that doing it that way makes them a dummy. They could be the best manager and smartest player in the game. However what I am saying is that anyone that has saved for a couple of seasons and has a good bank balance can get a killer team for very little cash with almost no planning right now. As long as you don't want forwards or guys under 32 you can get incredible players for close to nothing. It is really only the weekly salaries that are the issue now.

Lol there are not many abbl teams that have one million in salary. but everyone it's just one or two big man away from that magical one mil mark.

That is correct. But just look at the low, low cost of players now. Especially old ones that only have primaries which is what 90% of players on the market seem to be. You can get a 100k PG for 400k, two 100k SG (one with some not horrid secondaries to play SF) for $400k and two $200k big men for less than a million. Add five $50k backups and you are heading towards a $1,000,000 salary team and have only paid a bit over $2,000,000 for them. As I said it is the weekly wages that are the killer, buying players is stupidly cheap. A team with a roster like that would clean up in division II.

Yeah a number of factors contributed to it though.

FAs kept being released onto the market so there are more players on the market.

Reduction in Salary which was made monoskilled training be a bit more sustainable than it was 3-4 seasons ago.

It makes me sad on how much money we all lost and how tough it was to compete when I first promoted to ABBL. It took half a season+ of saving and being competitive to be able to afford my next player.

Right now, you can buy up and compete straight away. That 1 mill promotion bonus is enough to give you 2 mono skilled ABBL starters

Totally agree. The FA effect has had a multiplier effect as well as the overall number of managers reduces, new players are being trained every day and those old players just keep on coming back again and again unless they are total rubbish. I think it must be even worse for lower teams who want to compete. When I first won division III my most expensive player was around $10,000 and now it is typically more like around nearly $100,000 - no wonder they struggle when they hit division II and so many decide to tank it.
