Skills recommended for PG

(1) Handling, Passing
(2) Outside defense, Driving
(3) Jump shot, Shot range, Inside shot

my opinion:
1, OD
2, JS, ID
3, JR, DRI
4, HAN
5, PAS, STA, FT
6, REB
7, IS, BLK

many PG try to do driving (on look specially), in this way you need ID, and in this way you need DRI too ... PAS isn´t good - low contribution to scoreboard and big weight in salary ... and which level of PAS is ideal? such as on turning point of PG/SG.

You get much better results by rotating training then by hammering the same skill for weeks in a row (so you've shot yourself in the foot a little bit

Now this is the kind of thing I was talking about when I opened a thread about a guidebook.

If you read the training speed analysis threads, you never see anything like that, just the like of this:

Pressure
PG:
Trains OD @ 2 weeks
Trains ID @ 8+
Trains HN @ 8+
Trains DV @ 8+

Reading that, I, at least, figured you had to train Pressure 2 weeks in a row in order for it to be effective.

because it ain't a think you could generally say, i believe in the training speed thread there is quote or comment about that skills train faster when connected skills are higher, and the overall training speed would be the best if you train balanced because of this. I normally look for trainees, who had the "same" weaknesses and train this skill for a long time.

Edit: ok this information is missing, but it is also really hard to make a complete starter guide, which had to be compact and also shouldn't miss information.

It´s a point of view, but i prefer a PG with best Passing, Handling and Driving before than Jump Shot and Jump Range(if i had to choose).

Pick your poison then and learn the hard way... PG withut a JS is pretty much useless.

the question is did you really need ID to stop a drive to the basket?

I never had guards who totally lack in this skill, but even the inept/medicore ID isn't much against 12-14 in driving which you normally got on my level(and i expect yours too). i didn't notice that much succesfull drives against it, or much fewer when i play with ID 8 on this position but the sample is small because puccio normally plays backup or sf on my team ;9

I guess this is really depends on your defensive tactic and you can hide lack of ID by zones etc. Sure higher ID helps.

i normally play man to man, the question is also how much effort you should put in and does it make sense to train it.

For big it is the fourth important skill i think, not a small number in the range of rebounding.

imo it a lot depends on your game style
if you play run and gun
js and jr are more important but if u try to score from inside; passing is important
defence is 1st priority of course, cause in my opinion its what makes u win in long term ;d
and try to make them have at least average or strong inside defence then u will have really solid defence :)
so

- if you play from inside
od,passing
handling,inside defence
driving,js,jr

-if u play from outside
od,passing,
driving,js,jr
handling,id

(if js of your pg is worse than passing, when he has much driving he uses too many shoots pointlesly,so i suggest u focus on handling more than driving if u play look inside etc)

I would go for passing - since that way - your big guys will get the ball more and better... plus a better offensive flow...
