Even the best shooters have shitty nights, you know that.

Even MJ had the occasional 5-20 night.

What's his driving? If his driving is low he'll take bad shots which have a smaller chance of success from the start. I have a SG with proficient JS and JR and he's already had nights where he shot 4-7 from 3pt range and nights where he shot 2-10. And his backup, who's much worse, has had big nights as well. Stamina also plays a role. He can come in and play limited minutes, but against a tired opponent he may start hitting them

And in real life it also happens. Does your guy shoot like that every game? I'm sure Reggie Miller had 2-12 3fg on occasion, or Ray Allen. Ben Gordon was 1-15 from the field the other day!

What I like about this game is that you can't just pump up one skill and have success. The all around offensive flow, the passing of the player trying to get him the ball, the pace, the other team's OD and the player's driving are all important factors in him getting a decent shot. Also: Strong jump shot isn't really all that good.

First of all, strong JS and respectable JR is just not that amazing. Between the two skills, you have a total of 1 skill level above the maximum skill that a player can initially be created with.

Really? No player gets created with skills above 7? Didn't know that. Always learning :P

mate. let me give you one advice. i have tried to understand the GE for many seasons now and have had the same problems like you.

1.There happen so many things in this game and they make no sense.
2.if you than ask for help, you get answers like you TIED, your team ran out off stamina, wrong tactics etc etc etc.

My team is an outside team. Until this season I have always played outside attack, and like you I end up many games with 25% shooting for my guards, some games even worse.

Look at my last game and this isnt a fluke. My center hit 3-3 3p attempts. Same for my backup guard Ubriaco, who is miles behind when it comes to total skill set, shoots 2-2 3p attempts. I can guarantee you that my 2 guards Tavares and Ortiz have way better skill sets than these other 2 players, especially when it comes to shooting skills outside and have a way worse %.

For all the people out there I won, so this isnt a complaint!!! Or I am a bad looser etc etc etc

Now have a look at my Pl game from last friday. I am playing against a team with no outside defense. Again I am playing this time a real outside offense and i shoot about 30% from behind the line. Once again, my best players by far shoot duds. These are guardia and tavares. And pucheta my 19 year old player I am training inside skills hits 100%???

Another example. Look at my outside shooting % in my league game against Hounds. Agains abysmal. He is a very weak team and also has barely any outside defense. My wondrous JS guy shoots 0-5... And yes, he has al decent JR too.

I know why you are upset,I think. Not because you win or loose, but because so many things dont make sense. It is hard to create a very realistic GE, most likely impossible. I like this game nevertheless, because in general the best team with the best tactic wins. I would like to give you one advice I received from another BB coach, try not to understand the GE as you think and most likely should work. But try to understand how the GE does work, try to understand the playing patrons it follows and use them to your advantage.

I have said many seasons ago that inside teams are favoured and now I have good bigs with nearly no outside skills, I even believe this more. My bigs have a higher % 3 pointers than my guards. I dont believe this is a coincidence, but something we should stop trying to understand and something we have to accept...

they make that much sense like in real life, only with the difference that the average is smaller ;)

Weaker shooter normally, take the wide open looks and less of them so they become much easier to 100% in a game - but even they shoot more often zero.

The things who get mentioned, get mentioned because they play a role.
