Third Period ranking will follow the first set of the Phase II Conference Matchups this Saturday. I'll do the rankings while at work on Sunday and then post them Monday evening if everything goes smoothly for me. I want to have them out before we play on Tuesday night but the real goal is to have them out before Thursday because we'll have begun the Fourth Period with Tuesday's matchups.

With that in mind, don't be afraid to discuss the rankings.

Anyone think any of their players are going to be a fast riser (i.e On the Bubble to Top 10) like we've experienced with the Second Period rankings?

The two players I am real curious about watching are Mario Mannu and Felix Mayagoitia. Felix is hot on Mannu's heels but it will take some real good games to surpass him and with Mannu missing at least two more games (right?), there is a good chance that Felix could jump right over him. Beyond Mannu and Felix, the is a slight drop off, meaning it would likely take a Top 3 seeding to unseat at least Felix and possibily Mannu. Keep in mind though, that Mannu has come back strong before from an injury. He hasn't shown the typical dropoff following an injury.

Do you mind if I solicit some opinions here in your thread? I know its not player ranking as you've laid it out but I respect a lot of the opinions in this forum and I'm starting to waiver in my idea and would like some feedback.

If you don't want it in here, I'll delete my post.

So, here's my question, which player do you think would have a bigger future on your squad if you were building to be in III and move to II?

Would you consider them both as your prospective #2 guard? or do you think one would be better as the PG?

I honestly prefer the better passer as the PG while the other guy could definitely benefit. However, his Jump Shot is greater while #2's passing is do-able because hasn't it been discussed before that after a certain point, does the effect of the skill start tapering off? For example, does a PG with Sensational passing and Prolific Handling pass better than a PG with Prominent passing and Tremendous handling?

Then again, my input is not nearly as valuable in these discussions as I am, by my account, a poor trainer/strategizer.

I don't mind the discussion in this thread, btw. I'd actually like some discussion and what not but it always happens this late in the season. For some reason, the level of activity drops off quite a bit following the All Star Break.

When you say given his youth, I assume you're referring to Mays at 23. I like your advice my only conflict is the inability to train certain guard related skills without training Mina too -- and he's already a beast of a salary.

True. But if I'm playing Mina at PG, as suggested, he'll get the single training.

So I guess your playing advice is for what to do upon reaching D III and your training advice is what to do now?

Not trying to win it but certainly be more competitive than I was last time I was there.

Well, I finished the rankings up to this point in the season but I'll be posting them tomorrow since I need to get into bed now.

With that in mind, I'll leave a few nuggets.

I think it goes without saying who will be in the lead ... despite his recent injury. The injury caused the lead to shrink some but it's not going to be enough to cause of a complete overtaking of the top spot and since he'll definitely be returning very shortly (if not this game, then the next), and with his strong history of returning from injury to excellent form, he'll most likely retain his #1 ranking right up to the point where he'll obviously be handed the award by the Buzzerbeater Gods.

Another player shoots quickly the rankings despite not actually playing a whole lot throughout the season. Most of his rankings are high rankings, especially late in the season and despite the opposing conference demoralizing his conference, he still manages to shoot right up the charts. Do not be surprised to see this player rise above the #8 ranking he currently holds into the Top 3 as the season winds down.

The Great 5 looks to be giving up on the season what with the Illusion and Bangerz dominating the conference. The rest of the teams appear to be throwing in the white towel and aiming for a good off-season of additions.

I'd like to extend my thanks to the Gavno for screwing with the rankings. I decided to hell with adjusting so that will basically give the Great 8 one game off for each team. It causes too much acid reflux to try and figure out how to readjust the rankings.

You move Mays to PG when you are training his Passing.....and move Mina out of the PG so he doesn't get training...
