Do you also keep your own stat sheet updated when watching a game ? Believe me some players block shots and they never appear on the stat line.
But at the end of the day it doesn't make a difference and I don't care.

I watch games with an open play-by-play (Y!Sports), which means I see both the box score and the on-screen version of the player.

While there is undoubtedly a human factor involved, I think talking about systematic manipulation of box scores is somewhat far fetched.

The original Van Exel incident is well-know. That's also the only case for which there is factual evidence. Everything else, as the author himself admits, is allegations with little support.

the author admit done this in less several cases a lot, even with support from externals ;)

Even when i expect the stats here quite objective, with little failures while making alley hoops without an Assist or some ghost assist from the bench.

I see the BA statistic in the box scores now, but am a little bit of a loss as to how one should interpret it. If a guy try to block too many shots and is out of position because of it? What about steal attempts -- players gambling on steal attempts that end up leading to easy baskets for the other team....

BA does not mean how often a player tried to block a shot, but how often a players shot (attempt) was blocked.

Ah...you're right...its block against, not block attempt.

Thanks...

Or Blocked Attempt, as in, attempt got blocked.

Or Bloody Arrogant, when it refers to a certain airline whose services I have had to enjoy one or two times too often.
