One thing to keep in mind about preferring 1v1 over JS on short weeks is that HA becomes VERY expensive(both in salary and cap space) on players listed at point guard, especially as you go into 15 and above. Considering that HA is trained quickly by a combination of 1v1 and passing (which good guard trainers will do a lot of), this isn't a terribly hard level of HA to reach. So there are some times when training JS isn't ideal, but it may be preferable to 1v1.

This guy is progressing rapidly, surprisingly at 19. I couldn't get training minutes for him the week, season didn't start yet so i trained stamina, and he popped along with 8 others. He popped in stamina, then i single positioned trained outside defense and he got a pop, and just this week i trained passing, and was actually debating between passing and handiling, but i received a double treat, he popped in passing and handiling, this week i'll either single position train pressure, or most likely, since driving received a boost due to the elastic affect of passing training, i may train driving. I want him to be the star of my team, and i'm also building around him.

i got three big men veterans who are a little expensive, and some good jump shooters who have other good skills as well. During allstar week i'll probably single position train jump range for shooting guards if he gets his training minutes. And surprisingly i'm doing well in my second year to, hoping to promote this season. I litterally went from worst to first.

When training, try to have a long term plan and not week to week plan. Because right now you are training him in whatever comes to your mind, but you also have to ask yourself what kind of player do you want him to become and what can you do to minimize his salary for maximum effect.

For example, if you want to have a inside-oriented SG, you won't train his JR a lot since it does little for him in Inside tactics, but it boosts his salary. By this token, IS will help him more and doesn't cost a dime. I don't want to say you have to train him to be an inside SG; it's just an example.

EDIT: Also, don't get discouraged if you don't see any pops after a training. The most important thing is you giving him 48 minutes per week. At the beginning, I was the most excited on Fridays, waiting for pops. Now this "excitement" moved to right after the game, when I see my trainee received full 48 minutes.
