Background: It is put forth pretty clearly that scrimmages only serve one purpose: to give minutes to players that hadn't played a lot in league games in a particular week. As such, they bring no revenue and do not affect enthusiasm and fans.

I read some reactions to this post, but not all, therefor I am not sure that what I write is not written yet, but I didn't see it so far.

I think there is another reason for scrimages, to be able to play with taktics, line-ups, and to see how the GE reacts to certain things. Maybe this is even the main reason why there are scrimages (do not read: main reason scrimages are used for, but do read meant for)

I do like the idea to be able to tweak minutes, but always leave the option available to tell the coach to play as if it was a league game. So there is still this room for experiments.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

My assertion was based on the following quote from the BB rules:
The primary purpose of a scrimmage is to give your team an extra day of training and experience, so try to schedule them every week, if possible.

Now, of course, they _are_ a way to try different tactics, though these will be limited due to the need to put specific players in specific training position. Also, they will never completely mimic competitive games due to the fact you can't use TIE/CT.
