Ok now for the Great 8.

Kalimna Kamikazes(14/7) Lot's of youngsters in the side and improving steadily. Have a balanced team and a decent centre with a sub par bench and will struggle to make the play-offs but might upset a few teams through the season. A big signing of two could make a big difference though. Prediction : 5th

Coasters(20/13) Very dangerous side with lots of talent. The smalls seem to be improving well and they have a future mega-star in their team. With a strong bench the team has depth as well and will no doubt be one of the championship contenders. Will be hard to beat this season, this is my pick this season and look forward seeing how they perform. Prediction : Champions

CRE Towers(18/13) Good all round side with some good young players. The bench would have to be one of the best and combined with their solid starting five will be a tough prospect during the season. Can they win it? I doubt it but they'll make the play-offs and possibly the semi's but without something special I can't see them beating the top sides come crunch time. Prediction : Semi-Finals

Possum Chasers(17/7) Couple of Australian youth players and obvious stars of the future but will be a threat this season as well. Some decent support players in the starting five but not much of a bench. Some additions to the squad are essential if they compete deep into the play-offs but even with the side they have they'll likely still make the play-offs. I suspect Pete will pull something out of the bag so we'll wait and see. Prediction : Quarter-Finals.

Under Dogs(9/5) Decent young guards with a couple of veteran bigs but nothing else to mention and will need some work to stay up this season. Might sneak a win or two but will be little threat to most, even a few signings might not save them. Prediction : Relegation-Playoffs

New york Wolves(9/5) Not much to sat really, they'll get relegated is my guess. Prediction : Relegated.

Hell Hounds(20/5) A possible MVP in Aida and a good bunch of support players but not alot else. If Aida gets injured it will crucify the hounds big time. The team likely needs a bit more depth to be a genuine championship threat and one signing might be all it takes. Could beat anyone on the day and will definetly be in the play-offs but I think their depth will let them down. Prediction : Quarter-Finals.

Melbourne Raiders(6/5) Again, very little to say and will struggle to win a game all year at present state of affairs. Prediction : Wooden Spoon

So there you have it folks, a very rough anaylsis of the league this year. Not to many weak/bot sides so it will be alot of fun I'm guessing and I look forward to it. Anyways I'm sure not everyone agrees with my predictions especially with Metal signing a decent player overnight lol but it'll be close enough. Good luck everyone and hope you enjoy the short read.

On behalf of the Australian Buzzerbeater Basketball Community I would like to congratulate Possum Pete and his team the Possum Chasers for drafting training both Andrew Garachico and Roosevelt Feaunati , into the initial Season 24 Australian Under 21 team.

Possum Pete is the only Manager in the whole Australian Buzzerbeater community to have more than one player in the current Australian Under 21s team

A full write up of the team can be found at (244355.20) with discussions starting at (244355.1)

Details of;
The free mentoring that is available
Who to talk to if you are interested in training a player into the Under 21s National team
How to access the Australian Offsite forum where the tactics of the team are discussed

Can all be found in the above mentioned thread

Congrats again to Possum Pete

Good write-up! And thus continues the trend of anyone making predictions rating their own squad lower than should be!

I'd love to see a Big 8 team win this time, our conference is like the West - closely competed with lots of contenders - with there being a "Miami" each season in the Great 8 to completely dominate. Only 2 Big 8 teams have won in my 8 seasons here (0 in the last 4 seasons)...

I agree with Coasters looking like favourites, what the hell happened to Metal? They were a Crunch Time away from being Champions, now 0-3?

To answer PossumPete's question, I would be losing money if it weren't for the cup - and I'll be selling players as soon as I exit. My stadium is small because I never get a full-house except during play-offs...

Thanks a lot Sid! I am pretty proud of my boys. Yeah, it was the plan to get them in the team, really glad they both made the cut!

Cheers,

Have you ever had players in the Aussie under 21s before?

TT - (14843373)

Sniff, was so sad to let him go. Drafted him in season 12, and he was a star of Division iii.6 for me. Had 2 seasons in the U21, glad he is back playing in Australia, after having a tour overseas!

Its sometimes hard to spend the dough on an arena, but it has to be done! Good luck with the cup run, I am confident I can take out my next opponent.

I believe the rating of my side is very fair. The squad is barely above the salary floor, it's not a small squad either. I tried looking to see if I'm rating my squad to low but please, point out a comparison or something lol. My team performed well for their salary last season I thought and even knocked off the Dobies during the year but I think it was more to do with GS, tactics and general team management. If it wasn't for 2-3 possible bots/non commited teams on our side I'd be getting relegated without some real hard work.

Gold Coast Metal(18/3) An unstoppable PF and likely the best player in the competition paired up with a competant centre is a great start but thats it.... Metal could do anything this year, made a careless mistake finals time last year and looked the good with some key signings before the play-offs but missed out in the end. If they purchase some decent guards they'll be a huge threat and potential champions. With the current squad they'll be battling for a spot in the play-offs. Prediction : 6th place in the big 8.

Nice Write-up mate. Good to see some chatter going on in here for a change!
Probably a pretty good prediction there, got myself a new PF trainee and Jurd is almost at NT level which means Next season is the last I'll be able to keep him in div III. Got some decisions to make soon... I got Jurd from the get-go as an MVP 19 yo when I started my team which was awesome. Just looked at his salary for next season lmao 150k at the moment -.-

Also great work PP on having those guys in the U21 mix. Nothing like drafting a player and training him well.

Damn, there goes my hope for the season, totally underestimated the Hell Hounds, silly me. Now Coasters should have it in the bag, Coast it in, so to speak.
