I believe the acceptance rating stays the same even when the NT coach changes so for this idea to work, the rating would need to reset after the coach changes or someone could get elected and be fired after 6 weeks because previous people who voted never changed their votes for the new manager.

The acceptance rating doesn't stay the same. It usually gets reset, only sometimes it stays, if the coach gets re-elected or if it's a bug (I guess).
Anyway. Considering your problem in Austria, it's probably just bad luck for your community. And it's interesting that the manager doesn't even approve of himself. You have contacted him, I guess? I just know that during the last election a manager registered for the election even though he just wanted to vote...and only because I asked him for/ about a speech, he realized his mistake...
So there are a lot of things to consider...but maybe setting up some extra rules would be great, I agree.
I'd also like an option, where the coach can resign. Which might come in handy if something unexpected happens in RL for example...
