A couple of questions for TheUnrepentantGunner:
#1 After the last election, why is there very little to no evidence of you having anything to do with the USA NT at all? I don't see any participation on the offsite forum, nor do I see much of a presence on these forums?
If I'm mistaken, please let me know.
#2 What can you bring to the USA NT that I cannot?
#3 Could you have gotten this last team past the semifinals?
#4 What's up with this? (78034.2)
1) i was active up until the last election. thats right. after the last election 100% of my bb time went pretty much into my club team trying to figure out how to make it a long term nbba team. i was as you know close to nbba making game 3 of the playoff, but knew if i was there i would be smoked. my superior game day tactics would not be enough to overcome my later start compared to someone such as you and KDB, and my financial trading of players has been a relative weaksuit, so i would go right down.
i had the added challenges of having arguably only the 5th best roster when i made the finals that season, with not alot of room for improvement based on my trainees, yet i also needed players that were the finished product in training or at least near that. I made some tough decisions in a weaker area of my game, and took the fall with a weak term but alot of promise next season. i'd argue the weakest part of my game is still the transfer market, especially as it is so relatively illiquid.
No offense to you juice, and nominally you do address the responsiveness, but its very much an inner cult of you and a maybe 1-2 other people making the gametime decisions. what good would my input do to sway the minds of you and kdb et al? I don't even have a forums account anymore (i remade one a few weeks ago).
I also have a good RL reason of course. I got married. In a related story, i punted on the season about a week before my wedding. I knew i wouldnt finish better than 4th in my division and the odds of winning from there are rather slim (i have won an entire round of 16 from 3rd in my division, but this time the teams were too good with home court). I am now married, and have no major RL events on the horizon, barring some catastrophe that may or may not be 9 months away (kidding, sort of)
2) flatout better tactics. this partially surprises me since i thought you almost helped build the engine. i mean you live near harvard where charles et al created the game engine. I have had to try my best to reverse engineer it, and i havent gotten it 100% right. i will have to watch my games and not just the box scores to track the statistics i truly want to track this year as well. that is a huge disadvantage yet i still feel with equal teams and on a neutral court i could win 55 out of 100 against you. that seems minor but its really huge.
3) iffy. from day 1: possibly. from your last 4 matches on, almost assuredly not. you were, as you pointed out, in something of a hole. you went into the germany game a 25-75 dog, and didn't do anything stupid to blow it. i really disliked your call in the semifinals 2 seasons ago with the all big lineup, but it's not my place to criticize given that while i saw almost everything i could (including forums), there may have been factors privy to you only.
4) they deserve what they got. Those who know me know i can be feisty. I would certainly have handled the taunting you got from the south americans differently. I really despair a country that doesnt have any real turnout, just as last elections turnout for our senior NT SUCKED. YEt i think the tide is turning in the US. If nothing else it might be worthwhile to check into global. I will be more democratic in general, and more exciting.
Honestly, if you win reelection with another lousy turnout, our whole country loses. If I am going to lose I hope the turnout is at least triple and people feel good about their choice.
