Not gonna lie, his name was one of the major incentives in acquiring him.

I'm confused what Kentucky Wildcats is doing. Is he trying to win a few games to hopefully land in a relegation series? The players are too old to pre-purchase for D.II stuffs.

i got it narrowed down to four possibilities:

-- a Njords is the opposite of fjord, so it must be some sort of big mountain, and Hakarl must be the location of Thor's house

-- it's the name of some obscure Scandinavian writer whose books are as gloomy as their winter

-- it is the Hakarl that belongs to a guy named Njord, minus the appropriate punctuation

-- a type of fish

i am expecting the answer to be delivered to me when i open my next Chinese fortune cookie.

Njord is nah-yoord, and is the name of one of the Norse gods (he was the father of Frey and Frigga, and is associated with the sea, fishing and crops).

Ha-karl is a Icelandic food that is fermented shark meat. Anthony Bourdain once tried to eat it and couldn't- it was too gross for him.

"Njord's Hakarl" n. - A Buzzerbeater team in NBBA that needs a more active ownership.

Despite what Tangosz said in the post above mine, I have it on good authority that the team wasn't originally going to be named that at all, but one of the bench-warmers was a huge Monty Python fan (and, thus, lacked the requisite ability to play basketball) and thought it would be cool to say he was "Pining for the Fjords" but not actually dead. Earwax being what it is for Tangosz, he thought it was Njords and decided to go from there.

Is it just me or is the transfer list on fire? I can't find a decent player for a half-way reasonable price. People are paying Big $$ for lackluster players. Where are the good players?
Perhaps I will have to build my own

IYF just got a $100,000 G for only 3x salary.

TF paid $74,000 for a $160,000 PF.

but i agree with you -- this is a period where i wish i could sell someone and get top dollar -- but to get top dollar and pay top dollar is sorta dumb. how nice it would be to have a big enough bankroll to really play the market correctly -- buy in the third week of the season and sell now.

i don't know how these teams are going to be able to carry this salary the rest of the year, especially with the extension tax. too bad it wasn't like this when the TV money was being figured out.

My hand was forced. I normally like an 8 man rotation, especially when in the cup. This season I decided on 7 guys, hopeful to use the salary savings to upgrade the arena. I was bounced from the cup early partially because of this. Then 2 guys were injured in the same game for 2 and 3 weeks. Seeing as I'm a few wins less than hoped at this point of the season coupled with a foul happy team, something had to be done.

I spent a lot of time on the transfer market this weekend. I was blown away at the ludicrous prices players were going for. I target many players just to watch them sell for double what I expected/ willing to pay for. I was hoping for a guard or 2, but didn't have much luck. I was actually planning to get back to a decent training regimen, but I wasn't willing to pay the price others were. The bigs I found were great. I needed one before the Saturday match or I would have lost. It turns out that was the difference in winning or losing. The guards are patchwork "warm bodies" while I wait for injuries to heal.
Many more changes are coming. But this should have been expected with one of the oldest teams in the league that is sitting at the bottom of the standings.

Once again, my arena is being ignored. This will hurt long term, but my ship was sinking faster than I hoped. I'm hopeful I can stay healthy and reconfigure my team on my own terms from here on out. I still think I have a punchers chance of sneaking into the playoffs, but am currently just trying to stay out of a regulation series. The guys on the other side or too good or too rich to win 2 out of 3 when it's all on the line! The bad news is that the teams on my half are just as good or just as rich....

i commend you for not despairing and hitting the "reset" button.

the good news -- and this applies to Pappy's Riverdogs as well -- is that the players who got hit with early- and mid-season injuries should be in great game shape come post-season.
