it seems to me early in the season for teams to start runnin' out the scrubs to ensure winning their Cup game, but that certainly was the case last night.

i think this is what Jason was getting at when he said Anchorage losing in the Cup could be a good tactical move -- if we assume that a given team can only win two games a week at this level, then all of Anchorage's wins will be league wins

just in time for inter-league play, dammit.

Pretty much :-) I'm fortunate to have Anchorage at home coming up before inter-league play begins...and combined with Anchorage losing a game already, hoping to take care of business at home and escape the first round of league play with a 2 game league.

Anchorage is right about the possibility of an enth deficit along the way, but he also knows he get's to put his best team on the floor twice a week in league play.

Upsyndrome's B3 schedule looks favorable, judging by the national rankings attached. Only game against a team at his level is the final round-robin game, against Izmir.

good luck! win one for us gippers!

Thanks! Yeah, I was very fortunate with my B3 draws.

I wasn't sure what a gipper was so I decided to google it. Are any of these definitions accurate: (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Gipper&...)

damn, the english sure be changin'

from Wikipedia:

It was on his hospital bed that he is purported to have delivered the famous,"win just one for the Gipper" line. He apparently said this line to Knute Rockne, the football coach of Notre Dame. The full quotation from which the line is derived is:

"I've got to go, Rock. It's all right. I'm not afraid. Some time, Rock, when the team is up against it, when things are wrong and the breaks are beating the boys, ask them to go in there with all they've got and win just one for the Gipper. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock. But I'll know about it, and I'll be happy." Rockne used the story of Gipp, along with this deathbed line that he attributed to Gipp, to rally his team to a 12-6 upset of the previously undefeated Army team of 1928, with Jack Chevigny scoring the famous "that's one for the Gipper" tying touchdown at Yankee Stadium.

The phrase "Win one for the Gipper" was later used as a political slogan by Ronald Reagan, who in 1940 portrayed Gipp in Knute Rockne, All American and was often referred to as "The Gipper". His most famous use of the phrase was at the 1988 Republican National Convention when he told Vice President George H. W. Bush, "George, go out there and win one for the Gipper." The term was also used by President George W. Bush at the 2004 Republican Convention when he honored the recently deceased President Reagan by stating, "this time we can truly win one for the Gipper."

Will you explain to me Cold Fusion? I'd be interested in understanding it's benefits, possible applications and costs. Thanks!

i see there is a 35 yr old SF with 150 skill points. i figure in his prime he may have had between 155 and 160.

does anyone know what the highest sp levels have been? i'm thinking of xermade, i'm sure he had a bunch. others?

fwiw, that 35 year old is going for $5 million, and he might be worth it.

I know Hakkinen had 156 in his prime, and that's the most I've seen. Xermade had like 140 maybe. Hunt and Serrano both had more when they were on the NT.
