Actually, this is higher than we were back in May. Since then, we've been fluctuating a bit, and obviously had a steep drop from last week, but we've been lower than this before.

Here is Japan we are losing three long time users. They really wanted merged micro nations.
They have had so many chances to make the game better but haven't done it. We wanted merged micro nation and we got designer courts......Where is all the supporter and donation money going? It surely isn't going into the game to make it better.
Another area we want to reflect upon is the number of our new managers. Our Advertising Donations Fund has been a huge success and is already fueling our campaigns to bring more and more managers to this great game, even though we haven’t really started pushing full force yet! Since we’ll never change our “free to play” philosophy, we humbly ask for donations to help grow our numbers and keep us competitive on the marketing front. Earning a Donations Badge can’t hurt either. To all our past (and future!) donators we would like to say a big Thank You, as you have exceeded our best expectations!

A HUGE SUCESS!! Really? 100 new users NET is a huge sucess? I invited a friend to play and he lasted 2 weeks.
WHERE IS THE APP? he asked. I think we all know where the money is going.....some old BB is sitting in a nice flat in Chang Mai Thailand eating fruit and drinking beer.
If you want new users to stick and keep playing.....Forget about advertising!! Word of mouth is much better if the game is good(which BB was in 2010). Make an APP, merge micros, seed the cup after the 3rd round. If you do these things..THEY WILL COME!!!

In 2010 it was (almost) up to the technological standard. It has become an oldtimer now.

The engine needs an overhaul, the gameviewer needs a HTML5 version, ... So much to do and adding customizable courts after like 10 years is no big deal really.

Messing up Utopia was a big mistake - where did this money go? 10k made with the first batch of users, could habe funded an App EASILY.

Is that true? I mean, do you know of any apps out there that only cost $10k?
I'm asking both out of honest curiosity and based on some unrelated app development conversations I've had where they are many times more expensive.

It depends on the things you want an app to do, prices range from a few hundred bucks to 500k. I had interest in a pretty complex gaming app and got offers from freelancers ranging from 5-15k. Unfortunately a pretty similar game was released in the meanwhile, so my plans did not materialize.

An app that would allow us to set lineups and watch the games would be quite cheap I assume, but the problem would probably be the very outdated infrastructure we have in this game.

If you want to buy existing apps/games and get them redesigned:

Get somebody to code for you:

If the BBs WANT to do something, there are ways to get it done. I think wasting the ad money for an app, would have been much more successful.

Besides more users, in what way was the game better in 2010 than it is now?

Back in the days you could actually compete and catch up pretty soon, nowadays your first few weeks look like this:

No chance to buy decent prospects, no chance to add players with a long term perspective... If I start a game I want a carefree, fun experience, not a week long drag just to win my first game...
