I don't think box-and-1 has no merit. I wouldn't be surprised to see some teams play it against BYU this year. I agree that the higher the level of competition, the less realistic it is to use, but it certainly has its place in high school hoops.

Why it is called "outside box and one" then? It seems that this "box" have to be outside. I played and watched basketball only in kindergarden in style "run for the ball", so I dont quite get it.

but even in europe where Zones was legal all the time, the box and 1 is very uncommon at professionell level. I saw it maybe 2 times for short stretches and i have seen a lot of games(and i believe it was the same coach)

So maybe you find your example in 2% of the games with Murat Dedin on the sideline *gg

But as i said, in Buzzerbeater there are some more inbalanced rosters so that it makes sense to use it and maybe the BB searched a counter part for the isolation offense who should focus on the star of the opposing team and stick with the box and 1.
