“Air Allnite here; you wanted an updated state of Linndale's basketball team, so here you go: it still sucks. You folks are insane if you think Pio can match wits with Coach Stephenson. There’s your first loss. Then with Fondy, can you really overlook them? It’s a game on paper you should win, but can you guarantee they won’t pull off the upset? Then comes your second loss, assuming you survive the Fondy Cardinals. Coach Stephenson and his crew, in their house for a playoff game. This is still subject to change, as both the Lion Rebels and the Carolina Rebels both still have a path to the top seed. If Carolina takes the top seed, I’m betting on Daisy Merollin’s crew. Why? Because I can’t see a reality where Daisy’s squad loses 3 times in a row to a Pio Reina coached team, and certainly not at home in a playoff game! What if it’s the Lion Rebels? IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO IT IS!!! Pio Reina is not the coach to win a first round playoff game, but don’t worry Linndale fans; he won’t have to. Fondy’s gonna get you, or Coach Stephenson is going to embarrass you. Making the playoffs just for the sake of making the playoffs is useless. I don’t recall ever watching a team fight so hard to get a playoff berth just to get embarrassed once they get there, but welcome to Linndale!”

“Now, as your magnanimous host, I will allow a rebuttal to be given by our guest and my colleague Marshall Richards. Marshall, I hope you brought your A game, because you’re going to need it.”

“Thank you, Air. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Air Allnite. Better yet, don’t. I come to show you how wrong he is; roll the video!”

You’re not beating San Dominica or Philly Dribble. You have to beat Carolina and Fondy.
You want a shot at the playoffs? You’re gonna have to go 3-1, and even then you might need help.
Linndale, you aren’t beating Philly. You aren’t beating Carolina. You can’t beat San Dominica. I said you had to 3 and 1 to make it. You’re going 1-3, and a healthy Hearn is not going to make a difference at all.
You’re not going to the playoffs. You’re just not good enough.
I told you this team was a fraud and so was the coach.
Linndale needs a basketball coach. Pio Reina is not the guy. He stinks. He’s absolutely terrible.

“Those are just the things you’ve said recently. All they have to do is win 1 of the last 2 games and they will have gone 3 and 1 over the final 4 games and that gets them into the playoffs with no help needed. You said they were going 1-3 but here we are halfway through and they are 2-0. You said Hearn wouldn’t make a difference at all. That was incorrect. Pio Reina’s squad has beaten the teams in front of them to climb into the playoff picture. They are one win from clinching their spot. You said they would need help even if they went 3-1. They beat and passed Philly Dribble, they’ve beaten Carolina and they beat the Lion Rebels when they absolutely had to. Pio Reina has gotten it done. You’re the same guy who said this team wasn’t making the playoffs a few weeks ago. Pick one; is Linndale not getting into the playoffs, or is getting in not good enough? You are simply all wrong about this team. Take the L you’ve earned.”

“Folks, welcome to the Linndale Basketball Post Game Show. He’s Marshall Richards, I’m Happy Ourer, and you just saw overtime basketball at Shaw memorial Gym, where Coach Stephenson’s always tough San Dominica Warriors used an 8-0 run to take control in the extra period and beat Pio Reina’s boys 105 to 100. However, the big story is the health of Ramon Sanz Garcaa, who went down in the third quarter with an injury and did not return. We’ll send it to our man on the scene, Air Allnite for the latest word. Air, what can you tell us?”

“Happy, word out of the trainer’s room is a sprained ankle. We haven’t yet spoken to the doctor to determine how bad it is, but before he went down, he was possibly looking at a triple double. He went down with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.”

“Air, have you had a chance to speak with Coach Reina to see what they might do in Ramon Sanz Garcaa’s absence?”

“Happy, I have not as of yet, but I don’t think Pio has even given it thought yet. Seeing as it’s a must win game if they want to go the playoffs, I expect Harrison Mann and Serkan Sokmen had better strap it up and get it done; I don’t think there are any more rabbits to come from the GM’s hat at this point.”

“Air, Marshall here. I’m going to give you credit for calling this specific game a loss for Linndale, but that’s the only thing you’ve gotten right. I’m going to put you on the spot right now: does Fondy have a shot?”

“Without Hearn, they definitely did. With Hearn but without Sanz Garcaa, the task is a bit more difficult, but they have a chance. If Hearn goes down in that game, Linndale loses. They are going to need to get Knowles and Guyton firing on all cylinders, and they’ll need Petriukstis and Tovar to do better than the combined 0 for 11 they put up tonight. I don’t think any of that happens. You might get Knowles or Guyton hot, but not both. And now, not only does Linndale have to win to get in, they need help from San Dominica. If Philly Dribble loses, Linndale is in. Marshall, I believe it was me who said Linndale would need to go 3-1 and need help. There you have it.”

“Folks, we’ll be back after the break with more from the Linndale Basketball Post Game Show.”

Hunt:
I’m Hunt Mosley and he’s the legend Bret Rodriguez and we’re joined by the hitman himself Douglas Diamond. And you’re listening/watching the Warrior’s Post Game show. And first thing we gotta get into is someone please. Please explain what the hell we just saw tonight.

Douglas & Bret:
We saw strategy!

Hunt:
No, Strategy was if you told me the Warriors decided in their home game matchup against their hated rivals to just open up the offense and go fun and gun. Just let LAB and Granja splash from the perimeter. Instead the Warriors chose to go with a slowed down patient offense. You telling me an analytical coach like Coach Stephenson went to the lab and came out with ‘Oh let’s go patient’

Bret (laughing hysterically)
Why would they do anything you just suggested they do? Why even show that you might do that! There’s still a chance you can see these guys again in two weeks.

Hunt:
Because they’re Lindale! These are the games you go all out for. I don’t know. Just its the last rivalry game of the season and you choose to go that route.

Bret & Douglas:
They still got Philly!

Hunt:
That’s different. Only rivalry that is possibly bigger than Lindale as far as Warrior fans are concerned are perhaps the Lion Rebels

Douglas:
Come on man, we all knew as soon as they got that sixteenth win, they were gonna focus on the playoffs. Coach is not taking any chances.

Hunt:
But why patient why not go motion! I’m glad they got the win but too many things bothered me about this game. First of all, too much work LAB had to do this game. 34 attempts. He hit twelves of that thirty-four.

Bret:
And you know the last time LAB took near close to that amount of shots? It was against Lindale back in February! He went 9 for 21! He always has a lot of shot attempts against Lindale.

Hunt:
But in most of those games, there’s been a more spreading out of the work. LAB may go for 22 attempts but someone maybe had 18, but this time the next most shot attempts is Blanchet who went 7 for 12 followed by Granja who went 5 for 11

Douglas:
Just a point of note, the Warriors took 94 shots this game. The same amount of shots they took against the Cardinals so the pacing of this game while slower still had the grind down aspect that the Warriors like to accomplish in their game play.

Bret (laughing)
I told you Doug, him hanging around that Air Allnite was gonna do a number on him.

Hunt:
I’m telling you, the Warriors can’t be taking these kind of chances in the playoffs against Lindale or they’re gonna be the ones with the L. We’ll be right back after this commercial break. This is the Warrior’s Post Game Report.

Final Power Rankings - Season 60
Yes, there is one more game to go, but we're calling it as it is heading into the final lap, mostly because my IRL world has become too chaotic for me to write a Jeff Passan type post each week for these power rankings. But I didn't want to deprive you of what is undoubtedly the greatest system known to Buzzer Beater at evaluating where teams truly rank regardless of their record. ;) This week I'm you'll see their:

So, without further ado, here is Week 11's power rankings:

*inside Pio Reina’s office*

“I was starting to worry I didn’t know you as well as I once did, Pio. I was actually expecting this call a week ago. What’s on your mind?”

“Coach, I have to admit I’m worried about this game.”

“You should be. Sure, it would be much easier with Ramon in the lineup, but what have I always told you?”

“You can’t plan for every eventuality, but you can plan around them when they come.”

“So tell me how did you without Floyd for two weeks?”

“We won 3 and lost 1. We beat Fondy, The Beer Bellies and Cincinnati, then we lost to Tasty Tardsicles.”

“So what’s changed between then and now? Are the key players still on your team?”

“Datler and Guevara are gone. Floyd was hurt, Guyton, Sokmen, and Hadad weren’t here.”

“Were you better then or now? Pio, you can be your own worst enemy sometimes. It’s good to be introspective and think things through, but you get inside your own head too much. You have a good team. Your defense is solid. I wanna know if you have faith in your team. Do you?”

“Yes.”

“So you’re just nervous, right? Good. I learned a long time ago if you were nervous before a game, that was very bad for our opponent. Pio, you played for me for a long time. I’m big on history as you know, so I did some research. You know who doesn’t have a top 5 performance in any individual category for a single game? You. Now do you know who played with nearly every player on that list? You. Yet when all is said and done you lead the franchise in every category except rebounds, and you’re top 10 there. You never put up the gaudy numbers for one game. You just went out and consistently got it done every single game. Be that guy. Get nervous before the game, then just go out and do what you do. Wanna know what I remember? You going out there and taking on the toughest defensive assignment every night. You doing the grunt work and making your teammates look good. I remember the guy who scored 16.3 a night for his career, who shot 39.6 % from deep and 89.6% from the charity stripe. I remember the guy averaging a block and a steal per game; the guy with a 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. I remember the guy who didn’t care about the individual accolades and wound up with them all. I remember the guy who gave it his all, and then took to coaching as if he’d done it his whole life. Pio, you’re good at this because you act as a role player and think like one. You see the problems and try to solve them before they become problems. Here’s the thing though: you’re not a role player. You’re the straw that stirs the drink. Always have been. Always will be. You did it this entire season without realizing it, because you never realize it; you just do it. You do what needs doing. Pio, your team is on the precipice of a playoff spot because you led them to it by being the hardest worker in the building. Your players know it. They followed your example. You think it’s an accident the biggest three point shot of the season came from Ramon? Or when your team couldn’t get a bucket at times Kyle became the offense? You think Shooter’s development was an accident? You know why that Allnite character calls Kamp the disappearing man? It’s because he just does whatever the team needs him to do. He didn’t disappear; he’s filling in the cracks. He’s as close to you as a player that I’ve seen. He’s not as good or as consistent as you, but he’s got that same mentality. Do what the team needs me to do to help us win. Sometimes he’s Batman, sometimes he’s Robin, and sometimes he’s Alfred. You telling me Alfred wasn’t a superhero?”

"Point made, Coach. Point made."

Hunt:
I’m Hunt Mosely, he’s Bret “The Legend” Rodriguez and we have with us the original San Dominican Stuart Wilson. Now the question tonight is. This is the final home game of the season. Not only are you taking on a rival but also can possibly decide the look of the playoff picture, what do the Warriors do?

Stuart:
Look I know it’s the final home game but it’s the final home game of the regular season. No matter what happens tonight. Win or lose the Warriors are hosting one more game. The question is whether they are the 1 seed in the Big 8 or the 2. So the whole fight for home court is moot.

Bret:
Also add in the fact that Coach already told us the plan. Plan was make the playoffs, the Warriors have done that. The second thing was make sure he has the healthiest best conditioned roster for the playoffs and we have to look no further than Linndale to see why that is a crucial part of the plan. Hell we can look to last season. Going into the conference finals Philly did not have their healthiest best conditioned roster and many of us would argue it costed them a championship. Linndale during a crucial stretch lost probably their best silverback gorilla in Floyd Hearn and now will be without another interior force with the loss of Sanz Garcaa in a really crucial game. The Warriors are not going to do anything tonight that will possibly have them losing any crucial players going into Tuesday.

Hunt:
Ok but not having Sanz Garcaa shouldn’t cost Linndale the win tonight over the Cardinals. Linndale is just the better team.

Stuart:
You’re right but right now Coach Pio is going all Ender right now. He’s not playing tonight in regards to the Cardinals but also to the Lions or the Warriors whoever is the team that they could end up facing.

Hunt:
But that is the point of my question. Linndale needs Philly to get that loss. If Philly wins then it becomes iffy if not lets be honest no chance that Pio and his squad are in the playoffs.

Stuart:
Man you know Coach Steve ain’t caring about that. Pio has his board to play in the game. Coach Stephenson has his to play in his game.

Bret:
However we can’t ignore that this is a rival game. No one is going to say that the Warriors don’t want this one, but sometimes you have to see the forest for the trees

Hunt:
Look y’all two are avoiding the question which is do the Warriors go after the Philly Dribble tonight or do they take it easy and look forward to Tuesday.

Bret:
Man we been answering the question. The Warriors making sure that they are a well conditioned machine come Tuesday and can unleash the kraken on whoever comes in to the SMG

Hunt:
Okay so basically you’re telling Coach Pio that tonight is an exhibition for your place on next year’s squad.

Stuart & Bret:
Man we ain’t said that!

Stuart (off camera):
Come on man cue that music in while we make this call to Pinehurst cuz this man here ...

Bret (off camera):
He done lost it (laughing)

(pre game in the Linndale locker room)

“Don’t nobody wanna see you shoot, Floyd. That’s my job”, exclaimed Ramon Sanz Garcaa. Pio was glad to see him in good spirits. He worried about that. “Hey Murdock, when are we taking him out for sushi again?”

“After the playoffs. I got another spot---” Mantas was just about to tell Ramon where when Hearn interrupted.

“Coach, you better tell ‘em. I ain’t eating no sushi. Murdock, I ain’t eating no sushi. You take me to another sushi joint and I’ll kill ya!” Hearn was not having any of it.

Kyle jumped in. “Now why you have to have such a bad attitude about sushi? So your first try got you sick; it happens. I remember one time I---”

Floyd cut him off. “Don’t nobody care about what you gotta say, Face. I’m not eating no sushi. Gimme a corned beef sandwich from Slyman’s, a polish boy from Hot Sauce Williams’ with extra sauce and fries, or better yet let’s go to Melt. I got an idea for a new menu item. A triple chili cheeseburger with jalopenos, and the buns are grilled cheese sandwiches.”

Rod Guyton joined the conversation. “Floyd, last team dinner before we break for the offseason we’ll have it catered. Tell us after the game what else you want on the menu. Pretty sure Coach had something to say.”

Pio had sat back and watched the team with their back and forth. They were loose. They were jovial. They seemed relaxed, but with a focus. Relaxing a few minutes before you start the grind. On the other hand, Pio was nervous. He went back to the one thing he could control: preparation.

“Guys, I’ll make you a deal. Since you guys have gone and made me hungry, win this game and the meal is on me. Beat San Dominica in the playoffs, the meal is on our GM.”

“Coach, you telling us if we win tonight you got the meal, but if we beat San Dominica the GM is going in his pockets? So these 2 teams are keeping us from the food we want?” Floyd just wanted to be clear he understood his coach.

“Yep.”

“Pay attention, fools. We got work to do. Those fools keeping me from my food. I’mma kill them fools! I’mma kill ‘em!”

Pio resumed talking to the team. “All right; now that that is settled, let’s get down to business. The sooner we win this game the sooner we can go eat. Before we go over our plan, I want you all to know what the league thinks of us. They’re not impressed with us at all. The last of the power rankings came out. Fair to say we get no respect. We expect San Dominca and the White Walkers ahead of. We haven’t beat them. Tasty Tardsicles are ahead of us. Fine; they got us. Every other team ahead of us are teams we just beat. The league has us 10th best. They don’t think we can make the playoffs. I want to go to the playoffs. I want to stick it to the league higher ups. We win, we’re in. Nobody else matters. We’re going to make them respect us. You guys with me?”

“HELL YEAH!!!” The team was already now they were incensed. Pio knew his team focused more intently when pissed off. They enjoyed forcing Air Allnite to eat crow; time to feed the league higher ups. Pio had no doubt about the account.

“Let’s go out there and do what we do. We’re gonna play smart, take care of the ball, rebound the ball, defend, make the three ball, and just beat the crap out of Fondy. We’re better than Fondy. We’re deeper than Fondy. Let’s go make the playoffs! We have an appointment with Coach Stephenson and his crew, and you know how I hate being late!"

“LET”S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!”

“Happy Ourer, Marshall Richards and Air Allnite live from the Birds Nest, and we’re here for the game. Air, you’ve been killing the organization all season long. Any last words?”

“Happy, the league released their final power rankings. Linndale ranked 10th. You know what the 10th ranked team gets? Absolutely nothing, and they’ll like it! Linndale loses tonight. The season is over. Just Allnite being all right as usual. Nothing to see here.”

“Marshall?”

“Happy, you know I can’t let that go unanswered. Air has crushed the entire organization and been proven wrong consistently. That doesn’t change now. Linndale wins, they finish off this stretch 3-1 and make the playoffs without caring what happens in the Philly Dribble game. I’m told that Linndale already has travel arrangements set for the playoffs. They have no doubts they’re in. And about those league rankings, let me just tell you the last thing you want is to poke the bear. This team is pissed off about the lack of respect, and I hear they’re going into full on O. G. A-Team mode. If you know, you know. They’re gonna do what they do and they don’t care what anyone thinks. Air, all they’ve done is just win. That’s not changing tonight.”

“Folks, we gotta break for commercial, but when we get back we’ll see what the game plan hold for tonight’s big game!”

HO: “Welcome Linndale basketball fans! We are live from the Birds Nest where your favorite basketball was faced with a win to get in game and they did exactly that. Let’s go to Marshall Richards in the locker room!”

MR: “Hiya Happy! We’re here in a jubilant Linndale locker room with Pio reina and his team after the Fondy Cardinals played well, but as is their custom this season, not quite well enough.falling at home to Linndale 91-83!”

HO: “Marshall, I’ve just gotten word that Coach Stephenson’s boys took care of Philly Dribble 97-72!”

MR: “Happy, I have to inform you I wasn’t allowed in unless Air Allnite was with me.”

HO: “That’s pretty unusual to say the least.”

AA: *mutters to himself* “Why exactly did they do this except to embarrass me on live television…”

MR: “I’ve got coach Pio Reina here. Coach, it looks like the game plan was to forego the three ball and just slug Fondy in the face. I can’t recall seeing so many dunk attempts. Even Shooter got one! It’s been awhile!”

PR: “Yeah Marshall, the plan was to just attack the rim and make them stop us. Let me be clear, this was a total team win. Fondy was tough and it took everyone doing their part. This was by far the best our bench has been all season, and we needed it tonight!”

*players gather behind coach on camera*

HO: “Marshall, it appears you and Air have been joined by the entire team!”

MR: “Definitely appears so! Welcome guys, and congratulations!”

Rod Guyton: “We wanted to do something to commemorate this moment so---”

Voice off screen: “Delivery for Air Allnite! Air Allnite!”

RG: “He’s over here! Calm down Air, no one’s serving you with legal papers!”

Delivery guy: “Here you go, sir. Enjoy!”

AA: “Thanks, but I didn’t order anything.”

RG: “No problem, Air. It’s our treat. We all wanted to do something nice for you.”

Floyd Hearn: “You looked hungry. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like someone keeping me from a good, hot meal.”

AA: “What is this?”

Kyle Knowles: “I believe it’s a delicacy called revenge. Holy crap that stuff stinks! What is that?”

Mantas Petriukstis: “ You guys said no sushi! Floyd said he wouldn’t do that to his worst enemy! He threatened to break my arms and legs!”

Daniil Kamp: “So our little Murdock got you some thing special. How he found a place that serves crow, I will never know how, and I don’t want to, but you earned it. Eat up, compliments of The A-Team!”

FH: “One more thing… Ramon!”

*Ramon Sanz Garcaa dumps cooler of Gatorade on Pio Reina, assisted by Art Reese*

RG: (laughing): "I love it when a plan comes together!"
