It seems to me that inside shot affects layups for guards, because my guard with average driving and pitiful IS misses layups all the time. Really frustrating when I'm watching the game. I'm not saying I know this or not, but this how it appears to me. And if this is the case, that is bad news since you cant even train IS for guards.

Play him at PF or C in a scrimmage and he will get that training.

Think outside the 'box'.

Or think inside the 'paint'.

What about against a zone def?

If inside shot does matter for guards it really sucks to train outside players cause just about everything seems to be important.

This is one of those questions that I wish the BB's would just quickly answer.

If inside shot affects layups for guards, that really really sucks. What's the point of having good driving if the guy can't make the layup?

Players with good driving could still kick the ball out to a teammate if they have good passing. But if you have bad passing and bad inside shot, well then yeah, you're screwed.

think about Tony Parker and Nate Robinson..
both of them can drive the ball well but only one of them can finish very hard lay-ups..
driving gives the player better opportunities for a shot, which means better percentage but it is nothing without IS and JS skills..

That's one interpretation, but isn't necessarily the way the game engine is coded. To really know, I'm guessing we're going to have to have input from a BB...

IS matters for the guards but so does ID..
you don't have to train it because there are not many guards with good ID skills..
if you play "look inside" or "low post", your guards will get inside many times..
zone defense does not change anything, still PG defends PG, SG defends SG..

I doubt it. What's the point of running a zone defense, then?
