My HT soccer team is facing pretty much that same spot. But, I'm finding it fun to try to plot my way into making it work for me in the long run anyways. ;) My BB team somehow did stay up last year (finished 6th and won relegation series), so its now becoming a problem of how to build a good team at this next level. Although, staying up isn't completely certain this year. Just more likely than it was last year.

That's one of the nice things with BB as compared to HT -- the difference between the lowest two levels is far less onerous. In HT, teams can go from stomping a VI series to getting obliterated in a V and bounce back and forth for RL years at this point, but it's a lot less difficult to survive in IV in BB USA (Whether I can pull that off, myself, is another story, but it would be impossible to do in HT).

I'm in the same situation right now and I've been before. This is what worked for me:

- identify only ONE team in your conference that could be worse than you if you play right with your enthusiasm
- gather one more win than this team. Winning both matches against this team should probably do it
- in the meantime, save as much money as you can and train players
- when you are sure you are going to be 7th, identify the team that you are going to play relegation match with
- in the last weeks of regular play, look for older players who are cheap to complete your roster, so you can beat the 6th team

If you don't relegate, sell the older players at the beginning of the next season (in offseason they sell for too cheap) and put to good use the players you have been training this season. With their help, you should be able to stay in the league for good.

I am in the same position as you though i got promoted by winning the playoff. But look at my first game i lost by 40 points :(

My tactic now is using TIE against strong teams and normal against teams i can beat. And training my youth all the way. And hopefully i can last a season haha

I have a simple solution for you, which if implemented properly will result in staying in your league:

- Use TIE against stronger teams, bot teams or average teams in away games after using CT in the previous game
- Buy a PR manager with crowd involvement
- Use Normal/CT against average teams at home
- Use CT against teams that will use TIE against you that you think you have a chance to beat with a massive enthusiasm advantage
- Build up your enthusiasm going into the playoffs/relegation series
- Save as much money as you can early in the season (no need to go below the salary floor though)
- Buy stars in the weeks after the allstar break
- Train your youngsters as hard as you can
- Buy older players that can help you because they are cheaper
- Always look for bargains on the TL
- Build up your arena if it is not big enough already
- Maximize the prices in your arena because the promotion bonus is huge

This is pretty much it. You generally need between 7 and 10 wins to avoid relegation. Identify the matches where you have a shot at winning early and build up you strategy around it. Be ware sometimes stronger teams use weaker lineups against weaker teams. Sometimes you can use that to your advantage.

Good Luck!!!
