Do you think this is why they make this like this in the NBA? Interesting...

Interesting that you think the NBA relegates teams! And i say thats why you like it.

There is ZERO connection between those issues.
The lottery is not related by any means to the relegation issue.
It is absurd and just looks that you are trying to grasps at straws.

There is an connection, in the NBA there is no advanatage to be better then last, when you don't make the PO if you not have an expiring tv contract right now, cause it is unimportant if you are the ninth best team or last one. In BB every place after the PlayOff have a different meaning for the offseason. Or don't you think, being not relegated as 5th, is worse then beeing relegated as 8? Isn't there a motivation to be better then 8 for him, when he could stay in league at 7 or have even good chanches at 6?

I have come to the point that when I agree with Pini on something, I'll think about it 10 more times because I'm probably missing the point somehow.

But in this case I do think it is a good suggestion.
To be honest, I was somehow sure that a lottery was already implemented (I'm not into the draft system at all, as is).

if we implement this, we are giving another reason ( if we have few ones) for being fifth instead being upper

now its better being 5 than 3 or 4, with this, and giving chances to 5 to take number 1 draft pick, it will be better being 5 than 2 of conference

It will motivate those who are tanking for not doing so, as they can get the requested player even when not tanking.
The NBA added this rule, to narrow the cases where teams just started to tank and the game become boring.
It will also affect other teams who had played agianst that team before it began to tank.

Comparting the 5th place to the 4th is getting better under this lottery, (in case implied on all teams, and not only to those who did not succeed getting into the PO), as the 4th place now will have chance to get an higher pick from that 5th place.

It will be awesome when a team will get to be 5th place, make some money by not paying salaries AND he gets the No.1 pick....

I just want to make the draft unpredictable.
If it became reality, the things that you said might have happened, but also will let people won't deliberately lose the games.

What did David Stern and he NBA thought about when they added the Lotery? Why didn't they spoke with you?

Yes, it will be better, as this will make teams to stop losing games on purpose.

I didn't know that David Stern ran an internet basketball league. The NBA is set up nothing like buzzerbeater... but the lottery idea is not so bad but only if you don't include the 5th seed and do the lottery between the 6th, 7th and 8th seeded teams and let the other teams go after them according to their finish.

imho we shoudl group then like the nba, in lotterys:

betwen both 8th placed teams

betwen 7 or 7 and 6

betwen 5th

and then the PO group, as 4 vs 4 or all together.

Besides the NBA, every place in BB gives you a different result in the end of the season. While the NBA have a lot of team, who literally play for the goldenpineapple and get punish for succes thorough the draft. And betwen those team the lottery get involved, that the punishment through winning isn't so big, but it is still desireable to finish "bad".

I like the idea of No.1 pick goping to demoting team only a lot. Tiers are a good suggestion but I think actual place in a divison shouldn'tl always matter more than a record - differnece between 7th and 8th pick can be as little as more point scored (with the same gap in score) and in such cases I think both those teams should have a shot at the the same pick assuming 7th team would lost its relegation series.

One thing providing food for thought ias whether play off teams should have always worse pick than non-play off teams as there is a strong feeling 5th place is somewhat mroe advanatageous than first round exit play off spot. And there always be some debate about such things no matter whether it is 6th bein better than 5th place, 5th place better than 4th (which some think is like that now) or something else. As conferences could be very unbalanced it is not out of question to go with records instead of place. 5th team in one conference could be much stronger than play off team in the other abut can be weaker than 8th team from the other conference. This, i.e. every division is different (and that's ot even mentioning leagues with bots), makes any lottery system ahrd to design while not making things worse for some people (if not generally). Scouting investments are easy to decide currently when you more or les know where you land, could bring a lto of confusion and questions on help forums if it gets trickier. And at the end some teams may count with some draft now year in their longterm strategy, possibly even saving points from previous years, there shouldn't be a sudden change that would screw them over.
