At the end of the day buzzerbeater is about winning games, and although it's nice to have a player leading the league in something, it's not going to benefit your team in any way. No one is going to think of you any differently based on whether you have a league leader or not. As long as you keep winning games, most of the time you'll be respected.

Not true. My opinion of him -- not only in this game but as a human being -- is based solely on whether or not he has a league leader.

Nope, it does not help whatsoever. There hasn't even been a link to increased merchandise OR attendance for those awards being won.

you're right about all-star / mvp not affecting anything. but according to the game manual, having league leaders actually does:
Finally, fans from around the league tend to notice the league leaders, particularly in important categories such as points, rebounds, and assists but to some extent in all categories. If your team has players among the league leaders, you will see a bump in jersey sales from fans of other teams in your league, with an additional bump for the most eye-popping numbers in your country or in all of BuzzerBeater.

I'm well aware of what the game manual says, however I have not seen a link between them. Have you?

it's tough to say with no real way to control for it. my guess would be that in most cases there's a minor impact only. anyway just threw that out there since he was talking about having a scoring leader.

i do wonder the impact if a DV team had a few stat-monsters though. wouldn't take much to do either. imagine a PG awful or lower in all skills except tremendous passing. a pf with *only* very high inside shot & a center with *only* very high rebounding. in fact no player on the team with higher than inept OD / ID! wouldn't be too expensive & sure they'd be bad, but... not only could they be at the top of the country rankings, but the world rankings!

The extra $50 bucks would be totally worth it! Think of all the awesome things you could buy with that? I personally would by 1/4 of a bleacher seat!

What you said was definitely valid, I was referring to whether or not a real link had been seen. Maybe there has been someone find a very direct correlation, who knows? Let me know if you decide to try your experiment, although it would be very tough to get it to work in the NBBA...
