The guy has 52 skill points 4 weeks into his 18 year old season. 2.7K salary is just a reflection of low RB and lowish JS. He has good starting OD, JR, IS, ID, reducing his need of those single position training weeks. He doesn't foul out a lot. He doesn't need ST or FT training. His potential is enough to make a good USA D3 starter, and probably a decent backup in D2.
Is he a super awesome trainee? No. Is he the centerpiece of a training program? No. Is he the best choice for a train and sell approach to training? Not so much, since prospective buyers might look askance at the potential (and if you're training to sell, that's important, even if buyers overvalue potential). But he is definitely worth training, worth being part of the rotation, and a guy that could be a good player on your team for a long time.
