This was an upset.
It seems most of the upsets in BuzzerBeater take place in the cup. That is when it seems like most teams overlook weaker teams.

Let's say it's not that big of an upset since England was playing at home and had better game shape, but it was upsetting nevertheless

I would. However, knowing their previous NT coach left the team for dead, the upset was not that much shocking. It's an upset nevertheless because Italy has incredible players.
