Hey there and a delayed welcome from me. I'd like to add some advice to diversify the opinions you are getting.

- I agree on doing what you think is most fun, that's what a game's about.

- Though I haven't been there, I don't think it's necessary to turtle in Div5. It seems easy and cheap enough to get out there fast, if not this then the next season. I don't want to smack the people that do give that advice, I just don't think it is necessary.

- Biggest advice from me; be smart with your money. If you make sure every dollar you spend is an investment to gain something out of it, you'll make the fastest progression. With this in mind, spending on your arena is always a good option (though not always the best). If you add an old guy (32+), make sure he'll help you win now. If you add a young guy (23-), make sure the money you spend on him is paid off by getting more money for him when you sell him, or having him on your team for a long time. A lot of new teams waste lots of money by overpaying, buying the wrong players or having too high salary staff/players. Not having money limits your options and makes progression slower.

- If you have enough time, I'd advice keeping an eye on the transfer list for an extended time, and learn the value of players. If you know the value of players better than others, you can make money off it, or at least save yourself money.

- If you haven't received an answer on your trainer question; I'd advice to look for an Advanced lvl trainer. You should be able to get one with a salary of below 15k/week for less than 20k buying price. I wouldn't spend much money on a staff member with lower salary. You see people bid 100k on a trainer that has 1k lower salary than other trainers. You'll need 100 weeks to make up for that extra money, but since the salary rises every week, you won't be keeping him for that long.

Okay, just purchased an Advanced trainer, 13K salary, for 26K. Pretty good deal, I'd say. So, would it be better to one-position train the 3 guys I have right now, or try to purchase a few more and two-position? I've decided to start looking for at least one young, preferably a few, salary-efficient guy to help me get out of D5 fast. I currently have 126K, so maybe if I get 1 or 2 high salary (for D5) guards for cheap, I can still have enough in the bank to get a few more trainees.

I think you should stick with the single position training, and focus on your arena.

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do. Anyway, I just got (9697099) for 53K. I know he's old, but I think it was worth it. His skills are:

Jump Shot: prolific Jump Range: proficient
Outside Def.: prolific Handling: proficient
Driving: strong Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: mediocre Inside Def.: pitiful
Rebounding: respectable Shot Blocking: inept
Stamina: strong Free Throw: sensational

Experience: strong

I'm a little worried about the passing, but in D5, and D4 if I promote, it shouldn't be too big of an issue. Also, what should my tactics be? Right now I'm thinking about Princeton, since this guy has good JS and JR, and my next best players are my big men, so the inside/outside offense could help me out, although I'd like to hear from others.

He has better passing than most DV and DIV players so I'm sure you'll be ok.

I think this guy will rip up Div V, run Patient and let him go to work, if you M2M and use him on the Oppositions best scorer, you should be fine.
