CT and GDP cant bring Aussies crucial win(37239)With a tight first Quarter, and 15points a piece, the game promised to be a great view. Both teams desparate to clinch a top 2 finish to get a semi final birth, much was at stake.
Singapore used a Hack-a-WTS strategy in the 2nd, and he responded like DeAndre Jordan did against the Blazers, going 0-4 on the line. Australia had a monster job trying to limit the damage key Center star, Liang Jian was going to do on the scoreboard. Valery Kaspervich was handed the job, finding fouling more effective than playing defense in the first half. He found a strategy to slow the big man in the third, limiting Jians output and conceding no fouls.
With only seconds to go in the 3rd Quarter, Singapore emptied their bench onto the court. It was a mistake as the Ausiies used the old "sink the first, miss the 2nd" free throw, only for Australias superior front court to tip jam the missed attempt. It proved costly as the Aussies drew a 2 point lead out to 5pts at the end of the 3rd quarter. Kasper was called for two quick fouls in the 4th which saw him sit, and Burkinshaw was handed the task for the remainder of the match.
Singapore swung the game from there, turning a 5point defecit into a 5 point lead in 4 minutes of play. Singapore got themselves into the bonus with 8 minutes remaining in the game, while the Aussies had to wait for 6mins for the first foul to go their way in the crucial final quarter. They made them pay there too, shooting a high percentage at the line. Aussies turned to their guards in the 4th with Kasper out, but the shots were not dropping. SKS came into the game with 3 minutes to go, making back to back jump shots to bring the game within 3 before yet another trip to the charity stripe sealed the game for Singapore.
