I don't think it is 'very random'. It is 20 mins.

Storing session information for 40 instead of 20 minutes is not that big of a deal in my opinion. Especially on this site where I do not see the use of session data being used regularly (even though I think it should be more often). I would imagine the data being stored in tiny and would not be a problem.

And ALL activity in the forums at the moment is not counted as activity on the BB site which means if you are reading posts and replying for 20 mins you get timed out when you go back to the main site. This is being fixed in the new forums - currently in beta testing

I ran the experiment more than once, it is 20 min now.

And I don't take longer than 20 min to write a post here, but I do to write several posts or to read several posts.

And by the way, I can also take more than 20 min to translate huge paragraphs from the rules page.

And once again, several users have complained here about the session timeout been to short. It is really annoying.

BB is the only website I have to login over 10 times a day...

I'm confused, are you saying it's fixed or it's not? My only real complaint was that it wasn't 20 mins (when it was supposed to be), so if it's working now, I'm more than pleased.

Since you have been playing it was never less than 20 minutes. Like I said before it was not "very random" it was 20 minutes.

We are requesting that it be extended to 40 minutes because of single tasks that people are doing on the site requiring more than 20 minutes to complete.

If this issue does not affect you then please stop arguing against our request.

Whoa there. I was never arguing against your respect, just stating my opinion that it wasn't necessary.

And when the timeout starts being 20 mins like it's supposed to be (or whatever time it's supposed to be) I'll stop talking about it.

But as long as I can be in the site reading a forum post, then switch to another task, come back ~5 minutes later and be timed out, then I'm going to keep asking for it to be fixed.

I shouldn't have to explain this again but I will...

The forums currently not counted as activity on the site, because they are ASP not ASPX.

The BETA Forums which are being written now will fix this problem.

First of all, you're not a GM or a BB, so you don't have to explain anything. You can spare me the high-and-mighty tone, because I don't appreciate the attitude.

The forums currently not counted as activity on the site, because they are ASP not ASPX.

The BETA Forums which are being written now will fix this problem.

Secondly, the distinction you just made between the beta forums and the current forums was the first time that was mentioned in this entire thread. It's possible we've been talking at cross-purposes, since I'm talking about the current system, not the future one. Maybe next time we can get to this distinction a little more amicably?

As you can see this is previously mentioned.

and by the way, JudgeNik's willingness to help in the forums since day one is exactly what made him a canditate for GM, which he will probably become officially on the next season, after he transfer to the Australian league. He is even already in our GM/BB Private League.

Anyway, I think this subject is cleared now. The current session time out IS 20 minutes. The forums however are not considered to count the activity, which is a bug, and it will be fixed on the new forums. And the request of other users to increase the time from 20 to 40 minutes stands and it's already been implemented by the BB's (since weeks ago).

So I guess this thread can be closed.
