well, i have a cocker spaniel dog that weighs about 12kg and i just look at that and think wowzers... that is what 12kg looks like! I can really tell the difference in my face, have lost a lot there, but then majority of weight loss i think has come from the legs, so cant really notice! i have lost a bit from the beer belly, not as much as i would like, but they say that is the hardest fat to get rid of!

Leeroy, good luck giving up those cigarettes mate!! Losing weight is a challenge, but nowhere near as challenging as the battle you face! Stay strong, be disciplined, and never fall into that '1 ciggie cant hurt' trap. I look forward to the day where you can come in and say you have gone 1 month without 1 :D

Sux about the glandular Matty! It sux to think you have thrown away $$ to participate in those runs, but taking the time out to recover 100% is the most important thing! You can always just run the 5kms in a couple of months and pretend you're in the run :P

Speaking of runs, anyone seen Run Fatboy Run, one of my all time favorite films :D

Yeah a good movie that one. I like the literal 'wall' towards the end. Great movie to motivate you to have a go at running regardless of your current fitness level.

My feet are still fairly screwed up so I can't run to the letterbox but I did do about two hours of cycling today.

Thanks guys. It was two hours on a real bike but I don't push as hard as you do at the gym and there are always traffic lights etc that stop you now and then. After 20 mins at the gym on a bike or a cross trainer I am leaving a puddle of sweat.

My feet are slowly improving. I wore shoes to work for the first time this year today. Only other day I have worn shoes (besided one hour at the gym) was the day I went to the Gran Prix.

How is the back?

I hope you are training hard Bainsy. Only a bit over a week to go. My friend who is training has been riding from Chelsea to Sorrento and back to get fit.

the back is giving me the shits to be honest.. :D i thought i was on the back end of it, but according to the physio it is gonna get worse b4 it gets better! the pain recently has all been in my right glutes and down the leg, and according to the physio it should move back up into the back b4 it goes away.. i can pretty much do anything except sit for more than 5 mins, or drive.. driving really sets the pain through the roof, but only lasts for about 5 mins..

riding for 2 hours is awesome, regardless of traffic lights etc etc.. i rode for 25 mins and have been paying for it for 4-5 weeks now! any improvement is good improvement yoda! gyms are over rated anyway.. i would say 2 hours on the road is worth 4 in the gym, any day of the week :D

I don't know how far it is from Chelsea to Sorrento but I drove there a few weeks ago to the surf beach and it took about an hour in a car with much of the way on the freeway.

Bad backs suck. My friend "Slam Dunking Dave" (was an in joke because he was a deadly outside shooter and ball handler but was 5'11" and had about a 6" vertical leap) wrecked his back (he thinks it was due to his work leaning over a computer for long hours day after day while being overweight) and for the last 10 years his life has spiralled out of control. Balooning weight, infidelity, divorce, lost job, financial problems, addictions, depression all really started from this and he was a great guy. Still is, but has it tough now, where once he could have had it all.
