I can't follow the argument that this change will " help rebalance several pieces of the game" - pretty obscure imo.

Others have pointed out how this "helps rebalance several pieces of the game". Like Charles said, this change is not about fixing 5th place. The 5th place thing is just a feature of the change.

After you realize that 4th and 5th place are not the main features of this fix, then let's talk some more.

I know this is meant to be a redistribution of wealth from the top teams to the bottom, but there could have been other (simpler) measures to do that.

I think I am spoiled by some other games I played and the way problems and solutions were handled there - maybe thats why I have problems understanding the developers so often...

well, this is your news post
We would also like to announce that after heated negotiations, the players have finally agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement taking effect in Season 15. Players will be given a larger share of television revenue (meaning that your weekly TV income will go down). In return, players have agreed to only take a salary during weeks when their teams play at least one competitive league game. Teams finishing in 5th and 8th place will pay no salaries during both weeks of the playoffs, and teams eliminated from the playoffs will pay no salaries in the second playoff week. Teams in a relegation series will only pay second week salaries if they end up playing a decisive game during the second week.

You say nothing on WHY you made this changes.
In this thread you only claimed the following.
In fact, these changes came about in order to help rebalance several pieces of the game

Maybe if you explained a bit better the reasons for this changes we would have made more sensible comments.

Nonetheless, it is clear for everybody that compared to now:
1) Teams making it to the playoff final will lose money due to the reduced tv revenue
2) Teams finishing 5th will make more money (unless the tv cut is more than, say, 30% and compensates for the 2 weeks salary cut, which would be a distaster)
3) While now finishing 3th or 4th is always economically preferable than finishing 5th, in the future that might not be true for everyone.

Are the BB's going to implement something to curb the massive
day trading that is going to happen with this new rule?.....I think severance pay(like for the staff) if a player in not on your team for more than 4 weeks..I am getting sick of bookmarking players and see them getting sold on Tuesday just to go back in the bin on Wednesday...

Excluding jokes, there are several ways to avoid that who will finish in the 5th position will earn more than the 4th position and you've half season to think about it.

Seriously? Can you show me proof, anecdotal or other, that the 5th seed will make more than the 4th seed? Can anyone?

You do realize you responded to a post by Charles saying 'since no one reads my posts' and then go on to post in a way that makes it clear you are not reading his posts.

Pls read:

Salary roster: 579,500
Average revenue home game: 147,086

What should I add? It's clear enough?
O_o"

so you are running a kamikaze roster without the intent to win anything, just to lose games to safe short term the salry you pay to be able to dominate your opponence.

with this calculations, 4/4 isn't economical wise then finishing 6 - don't know if that is betterwhen you tank for place 6 instead of 5?

But i can tell there is an difference in visitor income, through past seasons. Laim making incredible more visitor income then the rest of league, and my visiotr income raised also after an succesful last season and was quite better then the one of the 5 or 6th placed team(there was a standig bug so i don't know, on which placed he finished for the survey) which also have a good season and a better cup run. We compared it this season from time to time, and for laim we wondered since seasons, and copy his entry prices didn't worke you still have earned nearly 100k less^^(mostly you lost money through it)

So there is a benefit to play succesful, even when you maybe get a short term bonus in beeing a bit less succesful.

But a thing which is solved, is imho the risk of an economical disaster of a bad loss in the offseason when you had then an expensive rooster without income anymore. The last season, i always tried to get 1-2 Mio before the Po starts, and still ended in the red numbers and for players who run a more risky strategy this could be a reason to quit.

Both 3rd and 4th place teams have already said that if they were to find themselves in the exact same situation ad the end of next season, they would give a walkover in the final match. If I were them, I would too.

Edit: So would the team that is currently 6th (obviously if he were to in the 3rd or 4th place teams' shoes)

And if that happens they will all end up exactly where they are at the moment. They will probably have to plan ahead and lose a little more frequently to reach the goal they are looking for.

In holland there is only one pro team who pays there players for 12 month.
Al the other teams pay there salaries in the 8 month the season last

So for a player who plays for Leiden and earns 36k a year its 3k a month (including car and appartment)
for all the other players this will ben 4.5k a month for 8 motnh and 4 month without pay.
