Final Season 62 Power Rankings
Been a bit of a struggle to put these together over the last course of the season here, but I'm going to try and finish this season out well. Not only will we have the final power rankings of the season, but I will be including bits of highlight-worthy information for each team from the season.

For these final rankings, I thought it would be fun to look back at where each team was ranked after the first week of the season - that number is in parenthesis.

1. southpaw army (2)
Finishing the season at the top of both categories, they complete their undefeated season with an 83.1 difference in efficiencies, far and away the leader of the pack. While they finished at or near the top of nearly every offensive category this season, one fact sticks out that is stymying: while the league averaged making 71.9% of their free throws, southpaw's opponents averaged making 77.3% of their free throws while playing against them.
southpaw's MVP: Nivaldo de Moraes takes home this honor with a league leading 17.2 average rating to go along with a top 8 efficiency rating of 22.5 while shooting over 56% from the field, including 51.5% from three on over 100 three-pointers. The 25-year-old Brazilian also finishes the season as the 49th ranked player in the entirety of the USA leagues.

2. Tasty Tardsicles (7)
While Tasty spent a few weeks at the top of these power rankings, they finish out at 2nd to go along with their first place Great 8 finish, beating out Super Sonics by one game, but also a healthy 100+ point differential over them as well (thanks in part to their 75-point defeat of Twotone on Saturday night). Tasty's fun fact of the season is that they allowed the fewest total rebounds per game of any other team with 39 boards.
Tasty's MVP: While he didn't manage to break into the top 20 players in terms of efficiency, Chik Wui Kwong ranks fourth at average rating at 16.2. Chick led not only our league in FT%, but also all of USA Division III and ranked third overall in all of the US in FT%.

3. Super Sonics (3)
Finishing out where they started the season, Super Sonics land at third in these rankings after finishing second in the Great 8. Super, too, finished out on a high note, with a dominating 92-point victory over the botified Cleo Clan, where they roll into a round one matchup playing host to Mindless, whom they split the season series with, beating them by 10 at home to start the season and then losing on the road by 14 a few weeks ago.
Super Sonics' MVP: Chas Goldsmith, who had an average rating of 16.3 (3rd overall) and an average efficiency 24.3 (good for 7th). The 29-year-old Utopian led the league in FG% (58.7%) and ranks #19 in USA Div III in REB/48 min.

4. Lion Rebels (1)
You can call it faltering, as my Rebels dropped 11.1 points in EFFG from the first week of the season to finish 6th in that category, but gained 5.8 points in OPP EFFG, to finish 4th, leaving my squad at 4th overall. The good Great 8 squads took it to me, as I lost three of the final top 4 seeded matchups against the Great 8, so these rankings seemed to have played out appropriately on that level (F. Day might have stronger feelings about that).
Long Time Lion Rebels' MVP: Terry Armstead. This may be his final year - we'll have to see how much his skills decline over the course of this next season, but I'll reveal, only three skill drops in this season. He is 2nd in rating (16.8) and first in efficiency (31.4). Statistically, he may have had his best season in 5 or 6 seasons. But 35, I'm sure, will hit him sharply, and I'm (obviously) hoping to rely on the combo of Kurt Brown and Mario Watkins to keep us up and running while I finish out my latest training regimen.

Final Season 62 Power Rankings - Part 2
5. VileOnes (11)
VileOnes made the biggest leap in these rankings (up or down) of any time from Week One. Here's a fun league note, the top 8 efficient teams had at least 127 efficiency points (on average), with the next four being in the 110's and then the final four being all under 100. Vile's 135.8 EFFG was good for 5th overall, and combined with their 6th ranked OPP EFFG, they land here. Vile’s fun fact comes in at the three-point line, where opponents hit just 23.9% of threes against them, the lowest in the league. Which is another way to say their perimeter defense is lights out!
The Most VileOne: Sjaak-Jan Brinkman averaged 15.2 ratings for the season (11th) and had 18 average efficiency. The 27-year-old Dutchman finished 4th in points, 5th in FG made, 2nd in FT made, and (not so flatteringly) 4th in turnovers.

6. Fort Wayne Pistons (9)
Fort Wayne - whoa! These boys ended up balling! They improved their EFFG by 24 points to jump all the way to 140, which is somewhat crazy, considering they lost 15 of their games. And sure, that comes from playing two bots in their league but consider: in their last two losses of the season (1-point loss to Mindless at home followed by a 23-point loss on the road to Vile), their EFFG was 119 and 129, respectively. So, even in losses, they were highly efficient with 4-6 of their players hitting at least double digits in EFF. But their problem was their OPP EFFG, which was only good for 11th, and damned their chances to compete for the playoffs. But, their prize, appears in the form of a Philly Dribble team that's just sold off their core. Fun Fact for Fort Wayne: They led the league in personal fouls (18.9) and in least number of personal fouls against them (12.5) per game.
Piston's MVP: We’ going with Ulises Jaén, the SF who finished 2nd in average efficiency with 28.1. And while his average rating was just 12.2, the 27-year-old American led the league in points, FGM, 3FGM, and was 20th in Div III in points, #62 in the USA in PTS, and #767 in FGM in the entire world.

7. Mindless Zombies (12)
Another big jump here, Mindless came to play finishing third in the Great 8 despite losing their last game of the season by 15 to VileOnes. Before that loss, they'd strung together 7 straight wins to go from 8-6 to finish 15-7 with a great run that saw them defeat F.Day, Super Sonics, Tasty, and the rest of the Great 8 (aside from Vile, obvi). The Zombies finished middle of the pack in almost every statistical category, but their most notable is most similar to VileOnes in that they held opponents to just 25% 3FG shooting on the season.
Mindless MVP: Thomas Freeman, whose 15.3 average rating (7th) and 26.4 average efficiency (3rd) set him apart (though José Ledu would like a word, despite only playing in 14 official games). The 27-year-old set a career mark for points, averaging 26.7 with a career highlight game coming at the beginning of October against Las Vegas where he torched the High Rollers for 57 points on 57% shooting, including 9 threes and 12 assists in 48 minutes for 58 efficiency to go along with his 17.0 rating.

Final Season 62 Power Rankings - Part 3
8. F.Day Internet Lovers Club (5)
It's dangerous listing this crew in the middle of these rankings the day that the Rebels face off against them, especially after getting embarrassed by them last week, but here they land thanks mostly to their 12th ranked EFFG. But their defense is where it's been at this season, humbling offensive opponents all year long while giving up 100+ points only twice (including Cup and BBM matchups). Coupling with that, they lead the league in Blocks/game with 9.3, mostly on the back of Dragan Branimirović, a 6'3" blocking phenom who collected 76 blocks this season.
Lovers Club MVP: Igor Tabrizi takes this award, though Ermenegildo Piana probably isn't happy about it. Tabrizi compiled a 25.4 EFFG (4th) to go with his 13.7 average rating. The 6'5" PF/C averaged 19.5 points, and finished the season ranked 3rd in rebounds/game, but also was a blocking machine, ranking 22nd in blocks/game in USA Div III and 105th in the USofA. Here's to the little guys getting the big blocks!

9. San Dominica Warriors (4)
The warriors didn't necessarily squeak into the playoffs, but they didn't exactly dominate on their way to a 13-9 finish. But still, their point differential was a pretty good +359 and their reward is a road trip to southpaw for execution. San Dominica's fun fact is related to steals and turnovers. They were second in team steals per game (8.6), but also gave up the second least number of turnovers per game (9.3).
Warriors MVP: Étienne Blanchet, who appears to be something of a 6th man (I'm too lazy to actually check each and every box score, so I'm just going by sight of his season stats, coupled with the fact he averaged 21.4 MPG). His 14.0 average rating leads the team and though his average efficiency leaves something to be desired (11.0 - Jérome Bégin is on the other line, btw), he stands out as the best overall performer based on this armchair observation. He ranks 5th in 3FG%, and 3rd in AST/48 min, and 4th in AST/TO.

10. 209's MostWanted (8)
The 209's made a great leap in EFFG, improving 28.3 points (which is still only good for 10th overall) but their OPP EFFG took an 11 point hit, dropping them to 9th, and that's how they find themselves on the outside looking in, much like their .500 record dictated for the playoffs. And here's where I have to confess: If Fort Wayne swapped places with 209's, I think we'd see similar records, but a great improvement in the efficiency scores and rankings for 209's thanks to the benefit of two botified teams on that side of the brackets. It's an imperfect science, but still a science (I swear!). Alex's crew sticks out when it comes to offensive rebounds, ranking 2nd this season with 14.8/game.
MostWanted MVP: Ariel Ziółkowski. The Polish super star didn't have his most prolific scoring season, but was still a force to be reckoned with, despite the few times he disappeared from the box scores. His 14.0 average rating combined with his 15.7 EFFG leaving him ranked 5th in total points, 1st in 3 FG made (59 total) and 1st in 3FG attempted (164 from beyond the arc!), which was also good for 68th in all of the US.

Final Season 62 Power Rankings - Part 4
11. Linndale (13)
Linndale bounced back after a shaky start to finish 6th in the Big 8, edging out Philly thanks to a better PD. Linndale was able to lead the league with 9 steals/game, meaning their tied-for-the-league-lead in opponent turnovers (14.5) was supplemented by the classic "(Opponent Player Name) throws the ball out of bounds" play at least 5.5 times per game!
Linndale MVP (that they shouldn't sell off quite yet): Kyle Knowles should have been in this spot, but since he got moved, we're going to fill that void with Trenton Tovar whose 14.0 average rating leads the team for Those Who Remain, but MacNeur and Koncki appear promising as their average efficiency was 20.5 and 18.8 respectively over the final 11 games. I would expect Tovar's shooting to progress some more, but that will probably depend on what kind of offense they choose to center their reconfigured roster with. I'm sure Air Allnite thinks he's got things under control.

12. Philly Dribble (10)
Phillys' run in Div III.11 since Season 55 appears to be on the line as they sold off the rest of their six-strong core of players, though they’re about to turn 30-year-ld combo of Farnsworth and Pimentel remain for now. Their roster salary total has dropped to $121k, which is $70k less than their relegation opponent Fort Wayne. Post the all-star break, Philly went 2-7 falling from 6-7 to 8-14 while also giving up more than 100 points in each of their wins (against Miami and Las Vegas). It appears the rebuild is official.
Philly MVP: Since he was just sold, I'm still going to include him, my favorite Dribble player, Paride Fasselli who had historically been a devastating sixth man. In 16 games he scored 242 points on 50% shooting, showing off his scoring ability.

13. Las Vegas High Rollers (15)
Las Vegas got three of their four wins off the expected teams (Miami, Twotone, and Zubr), but the highlight of their season was their 5-point upset of 209's clear back in September where now departed Center Andrija Miljak proved his worth (which ended up being a measly $61k last Friday). The only "fun" statistical fact I could find for the High Rollers this season was their blocks per game, which was good for 15th, smack in between the two bots, at 2.4.
High Rollers MVP: This is in no way fair, but I'm giving the MVP for Vegas to new arrival Abdelkader Chahmout, the 23-year-old French guard who looks to have gotten plenty of PG training this season and will surely lead them to dominance in Div IV next season. He scored 18 points on just 12 shots in 34 minutes to grant him a 12.0 rating and an efficiency of 17. The future looks bright! (My apologies to the German Lütjen Zotke, who performed admirably in the face of adversity this season).

14. Twotone Touloose (14)
While they only won three games this season, I think the most unfair part of their season was having to face the still intact Miami Cleo before their lineups were no longer set, missing out on a walk-over win, and instead losing by 43 points on television, no less! Twotone had some pretty ignoble offensive statistics, managing just 68.2 PPG on 30.9 FG% and a paltry 23.3 3FG%.
But still, someone has to be named MVP: Once again, we're looking to the future on this one, though this one is a bit more of a stretch. Chanan Holtzman, the 39-year-old end of season pick lead the way in his three games at SF for Twotone, with his final game being the Chef's Kiss with 30 points in 38 minutes on 12-22 shooting. I've a soft spot for the number 39 and dudes who are about to turn 40.

15. Miami Boteo (6)
Sad to see this team go the way of the bot.

16. Zubr Botystok (16)
Another sad to see them go, bot.

Air Allnite: “Cerri, Farley, my problem is you guys have a good game here or there, but never string a few together. We need somebody to TAKE the position. Cerri, increase your shooting range. Farley, Cerri’s just a tick better than you everywhere else it matters for a point guard; step your game up. No one is running away with the job. We want one of you to grab the ball and run with it. You guys are handing the ball to each other instead of running with it. McCain, you need to find a role on this team that gives you a chance. It might be at point guard, it might not. You need to figure out who you are and what you do, then do that. You have a lot of tools but you need a lot of work. Just go out, do the work, and play your basketball game.”

Michael Richards: “Shooter, work your defense and your ability to finish inside. You can handle either guard spot. You might be best as a full time 3rd guard in a 3 guard rotation. We need you to up your game and show us how good you can be on both ends. Get that defense where we want it to be. Mantas, your ball skills have to improve. You also have to finish at the rim. You do a lot of things that this team needs. Now we need you to show us what YOU want to be known for. Rolland, you have to up your game. It’s time to start putting things together and making opponents respect you. Hatfield, I’ve been begging to get my hands on you. You have the skill set to be a force at small forward. We’re gonna get you better shooting, inside and out. If you become the small forward, great. If you don’t, we’ve just made you that much better as a big. It’s a no lose for us and for you. You are playable at three positions. Your job is to get better so we can use you as a match up weapon all over the court.”

Byron Helm: “Koncki, we gotta work on your footwork, that range and passing. Those turnovers have to come down. No two ways about it. MacNeur, we’re gonna work on your footwork and your range. You and Koncki are going to be some kind of force to deal with. Pemwieser, you’re the best pure shooter of the bigs and worst inside player. We’re gonna work on that footwork and passing of yours, and we’re gonna get that inside game up to the level of Josh. You put in that work, and I guarantee you this will be the best big man group in the league.”

Meanwhile, in the GM office, Pio Reina and Roberto Gurgone discuss things. “Pio,” Roberto asked, “what do you have cooking? I smell those gears grinding.”

“It’s time to play a bit in the lab. Only playing 5 tonight. Letting the kid McCain have the point, Farley at the two, Reynolds the three, Hatfield the four, and Pemwieser the middle.” Pio knew that was not anything lab worthy buw wanted to get a reaction.

Roberto reacted. “Nothing about that is lab worthy at all. That’s just the bare minimum we can roll out and we should still win.”

“So put on your evaluation hat. Defensively, the point guard is playing power forward, the two guard is playing the point, the small forward is at power forward, the power forward is at the two guard, and only the center remains defensively at his position.” Pio was sure Roberto would pick it up. He did.

“So you want to see what McCain can do, evaluate Hatfield’s versatility, see if Pemwieser dominates, and watch Farley and Reynolds to see what they do. We roll out the big guns if there’s a game three, and we still have a scrimmage to play with for evaluations. Air is gonna hate this.”

Pio laughed. “Air hates everything that isn’t his idea.”

Roberto Gurgone addressed the room. “Gentlemen, thank you all for coming. Everyone in this room is here because I wanted you to hear it from me, and I want to be crystal clear about things. First, Coach Reina knew about efforts to acquire another wing, but he was not involved in the process. He was busy coaching you guys up. Rolland, you’re not going anywhere yet, but it’s up to you to make a case for staying here. Damian, you are still going to get work in a variety of spots with the idea of improving your shooting. You are a key component to what we want to do. Marshall, are you happy now? You get another toy. Byron, Damian will be floating through all position groups. Air, continue working with Damian on his shot. I’ll now turn the floor over to Coach Reina.”

Pio stood and spoke. “Our GM has acquired a small forward, and I an introducing you to your newest teammate, Midas Kops. This is all about collecting weapons for the new season. This season, we didn’t have enough offensive firepower or defensive help at times. That has just changed. We didn’t have enough ball handling ability and some of you were forced to too much at times. Mr. Kops here will help take some of the burden off you. Now, we have some positional flexibility and depth.”

“We have a battle at point guard. We have a battle at shooting guard. Rolland, Damian, I’m installing Midas as the starter at small forward. Rolland, you have things we need you to work on. Damian, we’ve already had that conversation. We have plans for you. Up front, MacNeur and Koncki are starters until Pemwieser and Damian can take their spots. Mr. McCain, your job, your only job is to find a way to impact the depth and rotation. I have full faith in your ability to do so.”

Roberto spoke. “Our coaching staff will return intact. As for the playing roster, there will always be the specter of change. That is the business of basketball. If you do not get better, we will replace you.
We’d rather coach you up, so I advise you listen to your coaches. Gentlemen, anything you want to add?”

Byron Helm spoke first. “Damian, do not forget you are still listed as a center. Know that it is on you to keep your skills sharp. Your skill set means you have much responsibility to live up to. Pemwieser, we’ve talked. You know what I want. Koncki and MacNeur, I want to see which one of you wants to dominate more. There is only one way to show me. Go and dominate.”

Marshall Richards spoke. “Midas, welcome aboard. I don’t have much to say as I’ve already said what I needed to individuals. Midas, I would just say I’ve seen the tape and the scouting reports. I want to get to know you so we can figure out what you need from us to be the best you that you can be.”

Air Allnite spoke. “Cerri, range. Farley, last night was nice. Do it when it counts. Shooter, play defense. Mantas, play offense. We have 4 guards. 2 of you need to take starting jobs. Shooter, you’ve shown quite well you are productive off the bench. Show me you can start by taking the job.”

Pio Reina spoke. “Any questions?”

Midas Kops asked, “when is practice? Are we practicing today? Is anyone here ready to hit the practice courts right now with me?”

lol. You get the extra money no matter what. Did it so I could pick up an extra full week of training for both Xavier and Owen’s. Got an enth advantage for the final game at my spot for my troubles.
