Dont see why this job sharing concept couldnt extend to other functions like PR, scouting of opposition teams etc as Matty has suggested, perhaps we might even have an IT expert amongst our community

I do tend to disagree a little with Ezlife in that I think a really good National Coach should be helping to;
Motivate, encourage and share knowledge with other coaches so that suitable candidates are keen and able to take the role on.

No good being "just" a great Manager and pissing off everyone in the process. Diplomacy and communication skills will be needed. (not suggesting Ezlife is lacking in these traits)

I did like the concept of how Iwen tried to split up the roles which should have helped lessen his workload but also help develop other Managers.

Personally I was happy for the Wombat Federation to encompass a U21 and National team threads, but I can live with another Federation being set up specifically for that purpose.

Excellent gesture by Mickyster to offer to take a couple of days off to scout the team.

Ive known Ezlife for probably the longest of all 3 of you candidates and have always got on well with him and considered him a friend, but am probably leaning towards casting my vote for either Matty and Mickyster.

That is a great set up. My thing would be to link people to players who were 18 in a particular season and they follow them along the line to to speak. So you might get this seasons 18 year old SFs and you work with those managers for as long as they are building till NT age or they stop training. Once your guys get to 22 or 23 you stay with them but start again with a new 18 year old group.

Other roles are can also add to the team. Having a PR guy and scouting guy etc will allow those who wish to help out. If no one is willing to do a role the manager has to cover it. But any help given will make the process easier and more effective.

I like this idea. We may struggle to have Mentors stay with Mentorees this long but a great idea non the less.

Agreed. And this is what I wanted to make clear: that while I have a vision that could eventually occur (ie large, one-stop-shop for all NT stuff with a range of staff and designated roles) ultimately, the Coach has to do all the hard work unless others come on board to assist and share in the load.

@Sid...a great example of what is capable. I wanted that but I now think perhaps we're are not ready for something that comprehensive. Instead, we should---as I keep saying/ranting lol---start small and expand.

@Kilrtom...I'll take your 'offer' (#cough#blackmail#cough) under advisement...lol

I believe a great leader needs three qualities:

1. Passion
2. Determination
3. Vision

Some would argue that you would need the ability to understand skills, tactics, etc etc, but really, that kind of stuff can be discussed as part of a committee of head coach/assistant coaches/australian community. That's the whole idea of having a forum/federation.

Mr Green, I believe you have all the above qualities. You have the vision to make big changes to how the U21 is run, heck, even the aussie BB community in general. And I believe you have the passion and determination to see it through. So you'll be getting my vote. Best of luck.

(even though you backed Sid to win in our S23 Finals match!!! jk :)

I just read your earlier post and...thanks, mate. I appreciate your comments...

...and yeah, did think Sid had planned it better but you were faultless in your victory...and now the XBB boys are back in the ABBL! Nice job. :-)

im an IT expert - I charge 150 per hour.

seriously - id be happy to review something, but not start something, i just dont have the time.

If i had the time, id bloody run for the election.

and yes i do charge 150 an hour. hence why you pay so much for a certain utility in WA.

Cause THAT narrows it down doesn't it! thank u very much Mr Barnet.

Ezlife you survived with that cruddy team because you were in the weakest confreence in the weakest division. You would have survived elsewhere as well, you are a good manager, but you would have had to have had a much better team.

I may be able to help Australia next season or may not, it will depend on a couple of election results...

Well, things have gone very quiet here...

...for those managers already applying to my created fed: TEAM AUSTRALIA I need to say this: The fed is not operational; it has some thread headings but no content ( I am preparing that externally atm). If I win the election I will accept those willing to enter after I put some basic info in like 'Welcome page' etc. I will then begin to flesh out threads...

...so for those who have already applied, I'm not accepting you yet as it is pointless until I know whether I'm the new coach or not. If I don't win the election I am going to build this thread anyway so it is quite comprehensive before next election...

Thanks,

Mr Green

From my end part of getting the offsite forum (as best option IMO ATM) going again we have 6 managers who have put their hand up to bring back the mentor program. Anyone else willing to help out with this please message me. It will happen regardless of me winning the role as I have been talking to people about it for a couple of week.

Just a bit of commentary for those peeps wanting to bring back player mentoring/community etc etc.

I just wanted to mention this just to show how difficult and frustrating it will be.

So last season there was a player who was for sale on the Transfer market, HoF'mer, who was only 20, but still had some potential for being trained. I wasnt in a position to buy him, and he sold for like, peanuts, so was quite envious.

So after a few weeks i checked up on the mananger, who was aussie, and that manager hadn't been playing him much/at all. So i msg'd him asking him that, he could a) Train him, and if he wanted help to ask me or someone else, or b) If he wasnt going to train him, that he should re-list him on the market for much more than what he bought him for.

This manager (not naming names) reply'd, which was nice of him. Thanks but no thanks, he has plans for him, training plans, so thats fine, i left it at that.

Ive just seen the same player listed on the market again. he has received NO training, has not popped AT ALL, since i saw him listed about 7 weeks ago. (sorry - he has just popped in stamina).

For me, i dont frequently contact people like this, but i can tell you now - whatever program is setup, mentoring/community, whatever - you are going to have to deal with peeps like this ALL THE TIME. and its going to frustrate you to no end.

So as a rubuttle for the candidates who are going for the U21 - What would your solution be to this problem? Ive got some idea's, but id like to hear yours.

Sir you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
We can not make people do things but need to make it easy and beneficial for people like this to become involved.
There are always going to be people who don't care, think they know better, or just enjoy being a prick. But if we can work with some people it is better then none.

I know when I joined there was so much info I felt I just had to get doing things without reading all the forums etc. If when I joined there was a sticky thread saying I could get someone to help me with the basic of the game I would of got my head around the game a bit faster.

But like anything people need to see benefit to be involved with something. the more we make the community that encourages for people to get involved the better it will be for them and the community in total.

I am keen to hear any ideas you have to make it work. One thing that could be done is to have where we are allowed (off site forum/federation) is a thread to let people know good players for sale for training purposes. The amount of teams with no local players is a bit sad when I look through my own league. There are teams with zero Australian players.
