Round 10 offered us couple of thrillers (ED vs. LMS, and SUM vs. LGM), and an interesting measure of current team performance levels (against each other) in KKS vs. HAD match.
ED vs. LMS 104-106:
LMS was able to get maybe the most remarkable (and for their Playoff chances, very important) win in their HGL history by beating strong ED team by 2 points, well done Monēta! Their 7 point lead before 4th quarter held, even though ED had chosen quite optimal offensive and defensive tactics considering which tactical choices LMS made for the match. Again, ED being very cold from the 3 point arc (now 2 previous matches combined at 2 out of 20 shooting; 10%!), while LMS was able to score 42 points behind the arc (with .452 accuracy), despite ED playing with 3-2 zone.
SUM vs. LGM 93-91:
Another nail biter of the Round 10, LGM led by 1 before 4th but SUM was able to win 4th by 3, and therefore bring 2 points back to Finland (from Italy, SIPPO ARENA). LGM actually still led the match 27 seconds on the game clock, and had potential winning shots in the air when there were 19 and 2 seconds in the clock, but were unable to nail either of those 3 point attempts. You don't see it every day that both team play Princeton, but yesterday you did, if you watched this one. As for tactical choices, LGM predicted that SUM will play balanced offense, which was incorrect - did this prediction finally turn the scale to direction of SUM in this "coin flip match"?
On Round 11 we are being offered another treat in form of VPO vs. HAD, both teams at 10 wins and 0 losses on this Season 2. And yes, many other interesting (and possibly close in terms of score) matches on Round 11 as well!
