(38155016) were outstanding combining for 30 points, 19 assists and 7 steals. Pilipinas showed great teamwork as they assisted in 45 of 53 field goals made.
Pilipinas started out perfect making their first 7 field goals. In contrast, it took Việt Nam 3 minutes until their center Lung Suong gave them their first points. The Philippine team build a 32-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Point guard Son Luong led Việt Nam U21 with 18 points, but shot 8-23 from the field. Additionally, he received little help from his teammates as they tallied 17-66 (26%) in their field goals.
Ace Julio Madrigal
(38155771) was again limited to 12 minutes due to foul trouble. Fortunately, Engelbert Nisperos
(38956653) provided relief with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in his first game as a member of the U21 team.
After the second game, the standings are more complicated. With this victory, Pilipinas (2-0) remains the only unbeaten Team in Pool D. In the meantime, Việt Nam (0-2) stayed winless while Taiwan (1-1) was able to upset the home team Australia (1-1). India (1-1) has a convincing 98-79 win over Macau (1-1) as they join the list of teams with one victory.
In Pool E, Singapore (1-1) lost to Malaysia (2-0) after their stellar victory over China while Hong Kong (2-0) beat Saudi Arabia (0-2) to stay undefeated. Iran (0-2) has yet to win a match after losing to China (1-1).
