Don't expect the Koalas to challenge for any titles this season following the off-loading of two of their best players, with other players also on the transfer list. Their battle this season will be to avoid relegation.
Doing ok with this until now that one of my guys got injured... Suck it up, princess? Yup. Relegation could still be on the cards.

However, the most important team statement for today is:

Where the eff is this CAKE you promised? The noise is unbearable!!

We had to go pick it up from the Mushroom Kingdom and it took us some time to get there. We also got delayed by yet another attempt by Bowser to kidnap Peach, but Cicvaric threw a brick at him so it's all good and we have gained possession of the cake.

It should be at your door within the next hour...

If anything the game itself has never been better. There's been some great improvements made just in the last 6-7 seasons alone. In case you needed or wanted reminding...

Before Game Day Prep, everyone spammed Look Inside offence. Other tactics were used, but only in certain situations, like if your opponents were weak outside for example. GDP makes managers vary their offence from game to game, and whilst predictable results aren't a bad thing per se (I've quit more than one other online manager because weaker teams could beat stronger ones too frequently), a certain level of ability for weaker teams to pull off upsets through their strategic decisions can make a league season or cup tournament more interesting.

I also feel that the ability to train players in anything regardless of where they play on the court was another great improvement recently added to the game. Managers who want to train their big-men in outside skills but don't want to sacrifice competitiveness can now do so as long as they're willing to put up with slower training speeds...

Every season another aspect of the game is being tweaked, be it for game balance/improvement reasons, or convenience reasons. The reason why the user count is going down when the game quality is going up is because of a lack of advertising. The rise of AdBlock as a commonly used add-on and a general sense of apathy on the part of the BB's to promote the game seems to have it very difficult for our target audience to actually find this game and sign up to it, and with old users eventually getting bored and leaving to play something else, there hasn't been enough new players coming through the ranks to replace them. Hence why Division IV is no longer a thing in Australia, amongst other things.

Personally, I don't think this game has gotten stale at all. In fact, my interest in BB has actually risen once more this season, following a brief period where I was still interested but not to the extent that I was back in the days where I would compose big write ups on legendary Australian players and moments... I may do another one of those some day if ever I'm motivated enough to do one.

To be fair, you might be right. I felt that I was losing games I really should've won last season and that was hurting my enjoyment of the game, but a new season erases everything bad that happened and with my team winning again, I'm loving the game to bits once more :P.

My point regarding the GDP and certain scope for upsets was that it's best to code a game engine where, if you lose, there's almost always a good reason as to why you lost. And barring the rare instance where the RNG really goes against you, this is indeed the case on this game ;).

I like your perspective man.

Do you still hold now that you're out of the cup?

I was knocked out of the cup seven days ago in a game that I didn't even try to win, so yes.
