Shot Blocking: Manute Bol

I don't mean to hijack a great thread, but good ol' Manute's been in the news lately:

That's a shame. What's even more of a shame is that I can't find any photos of Manute riding a horse.

I can agree that LeBron has a significant Jump Range skill, since distance seems to not affect his shot very much. He is just so poor with his Jump Shot skill that he clunks it from just about anywhere

This past season, LeBron shot 50.3% from the field, and 33.3% from behind the arc. Granted his FG% was a career high, but both of these numbers are really good, especially for a player that gets double-teamed an awful lot. Looking deeper, he averaged 20.8 FGAs per game and 4.3 3PTAs per game, so about 20% of his shots were from 3PT range. That's 1 out of every 5 shots! And he still averaged over 50% from the field!

Now I'm not exactly a LeBron fan (as a person, he seems to think a bit too highly of himself for somebody who makes a living by trying to put a ball in a circle as many times as he can, while real warriors put their lives at risk every day for an annual salary that is dwarfed by what LeBron makes in half of a quarter of basketball, but enough about his arrogance...), the numbers are very telling about his skills. Legendary or not, dissing his shot is like saying the Celtics haven't won a lot of championships. Not that I'm a Celtics fan either (I think grown men shouldn't wear so much green, but enough about uniform fashion...)

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

Let's try and revitalize this thread... New question. Which NBA player would have the largest salary if he was playing in BB?

My vote is for Hakeem Olajuwon.

Given how many time MJ has made Legendary on the previous posts, I gotta' think his salary would be higher than any team's income. But since Centers seem to get the highest salaries, I'm thinking Wilt Chamberlain gets the highest salary, hands down.

Among current players, I think LeBron would rate high is so many different skills that he'd a great multi-skill player and even with a really high salary, a great bargain. Sort of like how Manute Bol would be a really bad value as a one-skill wonder at Shot Blocking driving up his salary.

about salary...

PG-Oscar Robertson
SG-MJ
SF-KG, as he played SF but maybe the GE would call him PF
PF-Duncan or Bird
C-Wilt,Russel (Hakeem had great secondaries but they dont add to much salary)

You have to acknowledge the fact that more than a third of LeBron's shots were layups/dunks, which he converted at a .680 and .960 clip, respectively

Take these out, and he's shooting a pretty pedestrian .440 eFG% on Jump Shots. So no, LeBron is not a great jump shooter.
