you didn't ask the same fan, if you cook for 5 people and let then rate your meal you most likely get 5 different critics. maybe one say it was to hot, the other say i needed some extra spice. As it like there, some visitor say your team should mange to get the hc in the playoff, because they expected you to be a final team the other are more happy with the season.

yes. but this was not only 5 fans. considering my attendance is over 9k almost all the time, you can't compare it with only 5? can you?

i considered you to read the text above the survey, so i haven't to quote it so often:

on a small sample of fans

it is a survey, and surveys vary especially with a small sample, if it comes to election you use 1000 surveys and normally have an accuracy around 3-4 per cents and they even try to look to get a representative contribution from participants(like 5 owners of a small enterprise, 600 people from cities, 400 from the country).
I don't know any club, who optimize the accuracy of the survey like this, and also the number of the participants is different(much smaller, like also write on the survey page) so you should expect a bigger in accuracy.

It's a poll, it is not meant to reflect reality perfectly. Follow your attendance history, that's what is real.

Let's say I start a poll today : blonde or brunette ?
Next week, I will start the same poll again and might have a different result though blondes and brunettes would have barely changed in the meantime :)

yes. but this is sport not blonde/brunette poll. nobody will like your team if they would like brunettes more than blondes and you have a team that's full of blondins. but that sounds absurd don't you think?

You are missing the point again and again, Rycka.

The values you see in the survey are not the real values.

Your real value for 'performance this season' is 3.5. It refers to your RS performance ONLY. In the survey, it will 'float' between 3 and 4 simulating a poll where results are different from a sample to another but you forcefully resist to understand that :)
It works like this :
16 wins out of 22 RS games, 16/22 = 0.7272. It's rounded and translated to 3.5 balls (real value).
3.5 balls out of 5 : 3.5/5 = 0.7.
It's quite simple.

Your fans are ecstatic you have reached the finals. You will sell out your next game and the eventual 3rd game.
You may have noticed every team in PO gets a big attendance boost. You don't have any indication of this in the survey.

The variation you have seen after the last survey update is due to a sample variation and it is in no way linked to your last game. Your fans haven't lost interest, it's your mistaken understanding of the survey that makes you believe so.

sorry, my mistake. never thought that this is based only on regular season.

so the suggestion should be, change "I am pleased with the team's performance this season" to "I am pleased with the team's performance in regular season this season"

Am I really in the minority in thinking that Rycka has a good point here?

If the fan survey is not a good reflection of what your fans think of your performance, then why bother having a fan survey at all? The only real reason to even have a fan survey is for managers to have some sort of clue how their fans react to wins and losses. If the FS doesn't do this, BB should just scrap the FS altogether and be done with it.

Here are three great posts in a row about how shitty the FS is: (158671.43)

Mmm... Should we try to better understand the FS or should we have it changed because we don't understand it ? I don't know.

Who says it is not a good reflection of what the fans think ? And what reason for ?
Have you noticed you rarely see questions about the overall response to the FS ? It seems we completely overlook it. Questions are always about the second and the 2 last statements for some reason. We seem to believe if we have a low ball-rating in one of the statements, our attendance will crash down. Simply looking at the attendances shows that it's a wrong conception.
There is too much importance given to the survey, all the information can be found somewhere else. PR-managers are using it as an alibi to steal a better salary from you. Don't listen to their sweet talk.

Those messages were posted on the 10/10/2010 after the 1st game of the season, it's possible the survey is tweaked after the first game because of the merchandising revenues of the first monday. I remember something was changed because teams playing their first game away were at a disadvantage. It's a possible reason, I don't know for sure. Honestly, I don't look much at the survey anymore. I pop up on the page from time to time just to show my PR that I am keeping an eye on them. But it's useful in the beginning when you try to link the survey and the changes in attendance. Once you get a 'feeling' for the changes in attendance, you don't need the survey anymore.

I really enjoyed your post, so the +1 is from me.

Have you noticed you rarely see questions about the overall response to the FS ? It seems we completely overlook it. Questions are always about the second and the 2 last statements for some reason.

Perhaps it's because there are three lines of utter garbage:

The team played well in our last league game
The team played well the last time they were on TV
The team played well in our last game against [rival name], our hated rival

The only options on these seem to be .5*, 1*, 4.5*, and 5*. In ten seasons or so of the FS, I don't think I've ever seen a 2* or 3* rating for any of these statements. Has anyone else that would like to share?

Those messages were posted on the 10/10/2010 after the 1st game of the season, it's possible the survey is tweaked after the first game because of the merchandising revenues of the first monday.

Sure, but why would the survey be worse than expected? Shouldn't it be tweaked to be better?

Honestly, I don't look much at the survey anymore. I pop up on the page from time to time just to show my PR that I am keeping an eye on them. But it's useful in the beginning when you try to link the survey and the changes in attendance. Once you get a 'feeling' for the changes in attendance, you don't need the survey anymore.

So you agree, the FS can be scrapped. That's two votes then. ;)
