I went to the University of Pittsburgh and UCLA (for computer science).
Pitt has a nice medical program. Even as a computer scientist, I had a job in a bio lab. At UCLA, I didn't notice the medical program (though apparently it is decently high-ranked). I wouldn't recommend either as "tops in the world" places but they're good schools.

I only went through San Bernardino on the way to snowboarding. It's not the NICEST place on earth either (super hot, sometimes smog) but it seemed pretty honest-middle-class from the little I saw.

Loma Linda seems like a really unique school. Small, religious, but with some research accomplishments. Attending chapel is mandatory?! (http://www.jeffreymd.com/2008/09/26/what-is-loma-linda-un...) everything I know I learned from that article and wikipedia so take that for what it's worth

I wouldn't recommend Yale... a friend of mine is going there for her something-or-other (anesthesiologist... residency?). New Haven (the city Yale is in) has a lot of really lousy parts and is well below the average college town IMO. As for whether the program is worth it in general, she complains constantly about how much work it is both short-term (like 5 days of work and then 2 on call) and long (years and years) but if you don't rack up too many loans the payoff is pretty sweet.
