over the last 6 seasons, I analyzed almost every offensive tactic in BB. my result about Iso Outside is that your PG or SG starts the attack. there are two possibilities here: 1) he has only one defender and he creates his own shoot or 2) he draws more than one defender by his side and pass the ball to the inside.

I played Iso Outside with the german U21... our last game against Ukraine showed both, the strengths and weaknesses of Iso Outside. During the first half our guards fed our PF and C with balls and these guys scored on a high level. our FG% in the second quarter was 65%. the PGs and SGs took only a few shoots. but after the halftimebreak and the ajustment of the engine, the ukrainian guards stopped our ones and there were no possibilities for passing the ball to the inside. our PF Miesslinger, who scored 22 points in the first half, had only 3 shooting attempts in the second half. but our guards took a lot more (compared to the first half). and if you can't score from the outside you are messed -.-

the same goes for iso inside but only the other way round. your bigs start posting up, creating their own shoot or passing the ball out to the free guards.

in my opinion, both tactics are pretty cool. but you need the right players. but if you have them and start rolling it's pretty hard to stop it.

Can you explain to me which are the right players?

i don't really know -.-
for iso inside you need guys who can create their own shoots. which skills are necessary for this? maybe handling and driving. and as an inside palyer IS. the next thing would be that your bigs need a high passing. but what's high enough for a PF/C? and for your guards you need good shooters. but if a guard can shoot and pass well, what is his priority? will he shoot the whole time or pass the ball inside? so you need a balanced guard. and once again, what is a balanced player here? as you see, it's tricky...
and the same issues occury with iso outside.

My PG was injured, so I have no choice

So you expected it to work even with Dudnic on PG, and it didn't. Kinda unrealistic expectations. you have to field an optimal lineup first and then say "it didn't work" if it really didn't work

I have come to like outside Iso very much as i have a PF trainee with real good outside shooting. He performs real well in that offense.... .

I am thinking of putting my SG in PF position as you mentioned that your PF performed well because of good outside shooting. Let's see whether it works or not.

BTW, what is the difference between inside isolation and outside isolation?

I used both strategies, but both mainly relied on mid-range shots.

I think Outside Isolation is NY Knicks with Carmelo on PF, and Inside Isolation is Orlando with Dwight.

I think Outside Isolation is NY Knicks with Carmelo on PF, and Inside Isolation is Orlando with Dwight.

So outside doesn't need ball circulation and inside requires it?
