It doesn't help that English is one of the harder languages to learn in general

English is the easiest language to learn! Try german, russian or chinese if you want something hard to learn...

It's funny that you chose three of the four non-English languages I've studied somewhat (the fourth was the one I studied the longest, which is French).

Grammatically, Mandarin Chinese didn't appear too difficult - no conjugating verbs, you'd just add an extra character to denote something was in the past rather than the present. Of course, speaking it was a different story, as each syllable had its own intonation (whether it was high, rising, falling or down and up, or something like that - I've forgotten the specifics). And characters instead of an alphabet make it harder to pick up when reading some unknown text - you can't really sound something out as one can in the other languages.

most Americans would have little issue with Spanish. Maybe not the ones in the North, but I'm sure most of the central and Southern Americans wouldn't mind too much. Maybe the Brazillians would complain.

I live in Texas. I have the same problem the Japanese do. Its 'Murica, why do I need to learn Spanish? Though, most places now a days have at least one bi-lingual worker present all the time. It's even worse when I go to my grandma's out in the country where illegal workers are greater because of the fields and plants. I can learn Spanish, I know basics, but it's the fact that I have to learn it to is the problem.

woooooooolph baby..i thought u r a smart guy

i see ur overall thoughts that nippon could easy have a huge userbase cause of the mentality but that has nothing to do with banner adds...banner adds r based on ur personal surf behaviour

for example..u see lots of mmo banner adds and open a thread on buzzerbeater cause u ( or anyone who use ur ip ) r on such websites

a japanese user who is interested in sports and browsergames probably will see a buzzerbeater add ( and if he fellow the link and didnt speak one single word english he probably r able to change the language on the startpage in searching the nippon flag --- or is geography a problem as well for japanese poeple :p )

bottom line: if u wanna change something u must find a other hill, that hill is mounted ;)

Cheerio

I have to agree with Will Freeman.....The Banners are all about personal surfing habits. Since you are already signed up for Buzzerbeater, you would never see a Buzzerbeater add. I have a friend and he did see the buzzerbeater add while playing Hattrick. The language also differs too. I am running an Englsh Unbuntu OS at my house and all the banners are in English but at school on their Japanese language windows OS(Oh how I hate it) all the banners are in Japanese, just like the start up page. And I think the user number being low in Japan has to do with enjoyabillty issues.
