Sorry about the misinformation on the first round Chuck. Nice win, though. And congrats on snagging a second round bot!

Results of Week 2 Cup action:

The Two-'N'-Thrus
Marxist Tardigrade Militia – The Reds fell in a CT effort, sending their opponent to the next round in a defensive showdown.
Arny Team II – The miracle-makers who forced last season's runners-up into a first-round exit last week couldn't do it again. Despite a brief fourth period lead, the final buzzer signaled the end of their cup run and the beginning of a quiet ride home.
WBGL II – Any dreams of glory they might have had were swiftly crushed by their D.II powerhouse opponent.
Tartu Mighty Bears BC – Despite three great quarters of basketball, a disastrous second period spelled the end of the Mighty Bears' cup run.
Ratu Homegrown - Despite a great game from young up-and-comer and IV.44 native, Mainor Mena, the Homegrown team couldn't upend their D.II opponent.

The Upsets
Fender Stratocasters – Londo and crew were victorious despite Ezo's foul out early in the third.
Thalassa Ottakring – Team effort and solid defense put TO on the winning side of a hard-fought, low-scoring game.

All the remaining teams made it safely through to Round 3.

A look ahead to Week 3 of the Utopia National Tournament in IV.44:

The Game to Watch
Tsalakomenoi B.C. (818) @ Fender Stratocasters (1077) – This preview of inter-conference play assures us of a IV.44 team making it to the fourth round. With home court and two successful upsets in the cup already, the Strats have to be the favorite here. But our disheveled Greek friend may have one or two tricks left up his sleeve.

The Favorites

The Underdogs
Thalassa Ottakring (978) – The outcome of this one will come down to how much THO's Talented D.III opponent prioritizes the cup. But with a history of deep runs, signs point to a third round exit for THO.
Elbflorenz Supernova II (336) – A tough D.III opponent with a stacked roster will likely mean curtains for the Supernova. But if last season's playoffs are any indication, don't count them out.
BERLIN KNICKS (696) – A tough D.IV opponent will be visiting Madison Square Garden this week. This one will come down to which version of each team takes the floor Thursday night.
Thanatos to Team II (530) – Thy play host to a middle-of-the-road D.III team with a deep roster. Can an injury-weakened THA topple this opponent? Yes, but they'll need a little luck along the way.

Week 3 Round-up:

The Threefers
Fender Stratocasters – With no reserves of energy to pull on, Londo and crew received Jimi's 1967 Monterey Pop Festival Treatment:
Elbflorenz Supernova II – Despite Casademunt's 7-13 from downtown, an encouraging tie at half-time, and a valiant team effort, things fell apart in the second half when the Supernova bench just couldn't contain their D.III counterparts.
Thalassa Ottakring – With their opponent saving cup minutes for a few of their starters, Ottakring was outgunned and fighting in a foreign land. And so they sunk back to the seas from which they came.

The Upsets
BERLIN KNICKS – The Knickerbockers put a shine on their home court as they mopped the floor with the handful of scrubs that made the trip to Madison Square Garden
Thanatos to Team II – They lived up to their name, spelling death for their D.III foe. The execution was so emphatic in fact, that the THA starters got to sit the fourth period.
Tsalakomenoi B.C. – Haven't you always wanted to pour alcohol on a guitar and set it on fire? Yeah... I thought so.

Our three representatives in Week 4 of the Utopia National Tournament will all face challenging games:

BERLIN KNICKS (675) – They travel to the top-heavy D.III team, Colossus Atletico. A pair of tough league games will force their opponents to choose where to focus their talent, possibly providing an opening for the Knicks. If they can pull through, they will join Scoop Figliss TV Repairman (S27) and Zoreille974 (S28) as the only IV.44 teams ever to make it to round 5.

Thanatos to Team II (496) – They play host to Maiuri Dreams, a struggling D.III team with a roster comparable to their own. Whether or not THA will carry on to round 5 likeky comes down to which side puts more talent and effort into the cup.

Tsalakomenoi B.C. (795) – Signs point to the end for TSA. But will their D.II opponent's miserable game shape be enough to tip the scales in their favor? If so, let's hear it for the underdog!
