I assume you're running an outside offense such as Motion or Run N Gun, otherwise those numbers are to be expected.

One thing I've noticed is that in these outside offenses the best player on the team will consistantly under perform. I'm not sure whether to attribute this to the defense focusing on preventing them from taking quality shots or a lack of passing from the team mates. Last season I had a player with 19 JS and 15 JR who couldn't hit anything, but his teammate with 15 JS and 14 JR was the best 3pt shooter in the league. Now I bought a player with 20 JS and 15 JR and he hits about 29% from the three while that first player I mentioned is draining 50% of his threes and against a much tougher set of defenders.

In my opinion if you want to see how your player is affecting your team then you should see if your other guys have experienced a spike in their performance level.

You can still get enough pops from age 23-24-25 if you train properly. Question is if that's worth it for this player.

In any case, even the best shooters can have off days where they can't find the basket. The advise to get more IS is good because great players will try to get to the rim if their jumpshot doesn't fall, but your guy can't. Also, good passing is also important so he can pass the ball if he doesn't have a good shot (now instead he'll just shoot himself).

Thanks a lot for the great reply,i wanted to ask you what if a player have 10-15 driving but don't have IS, how the players driving will effect his low IS.will he drive more often to the basket but then fail to score cuz of his low IS or maybe he will drive more and scrore more cuz his high driving % will raise his IS % too? thanks

His high driving will cause him to create an easier shot, but if he has bad IS he will still have trouble scoring the shot. It will be better than with low driving though, and his driving will also help his other shots.

If you can't fix his low IS, you could opt to increase passing so he'll be better at finding an open teammate when he can't get a good shot.

The more the better of course If he has high handling it will train quickly, so I'd say at least 9 but shoot for 12.

hey shmil

i have to admit, i am a little surprised also at those two games where he shot poorly.

Im actually going to disagree with everyone here about DR and HD and IS training. Looking at his normal FG%, this is 45% for this season - which - for a SG is actually pretty good.
which means that he is performing quite well on shots inside the arc, and these would include drives and other similar type shots, which DR and HD and IS would only improve.

So i actually don't think thats the problem.

I can appreciate your frustration as well when you look at this game
(89119771)

7-10 from 3pt land. against good opposition.
It might be worthwhile viewing the play-by-play to see when he shoots the 3pointers. You do a run a low Offensive Flow offense, and it could be that for those two games, he was involved in late-shot clock 3 pointer attempts - which are going to be low %.
RnG also suffers from a lower shot selection quality, and so similar situation may apply.

not entirely sure though it does seem an odd one. It does happen though - see how the rest of the season goes with him.

haha

thats quite alright.

i mean - in saying all of that - the advice of having a SG or PG with good IS is extremely good advice. Ive done some statistical analysis on FG% and IS correlation and realy, good IS is a really good thing to have.

Just in this instance, i didnt see it as the root cause of the problem.

anyways good luck! maybe he will perform bettter against good opposition :)
