I don't know that public revealing of the code is particular necessary.
However, the idea that the code must be sheltered from other programmers is good comedy when the user base continues to decline because of issues that continue to go unsolved. Eventually, the code will be worth the exact same amount as the user base it draws (Zero when the website shutters), whether that eventually means 3 seasons or 3-5 years.
US Law is strong enough to make it worthless for anyone who gets code the actually make anything profitable out of the endeavor if certain written agreements are met. So having 1 person learn the code and learn the advantages isn't particularly dangerous, especially if the overall transfer list health and game health improves dramatically. I know for a fact 1 person has asked, said person has a separate game going that looks more fluid in design and is mobile capable. Despite said person's arrogance, it probably would've drastically improved the ability to track this game via mobile devices and improved the login screen at minimum, which is the first thing new users see.
I am hopeful that we don't get to critically low levels of users before someone improves the website dramatically, whether it be Marin showing us what he's made of or if someone else is brought in. That's just me though.
