old thread but thought id share some of my experience with this.

I jumped on the SB wagon about 2 and a bit seasons ago, after I drafted an MVP 7'2, then the following season (last season) bought an 18 year old 7'5 player with MVP potential.

Now, I have a 19 year old with sensational SB. 19.... Sensational. he trains so fast in SB its insane, probably the fastest skill ive seen trained for an 18/19 year old, BY FAR. (he is 7'5 though so yer)

The thing ive noticed, is that SB increases ur players game rating. My 21 year old recently got a 14.0 rating in 42 minutes in a league game against decent opposition, with Respectable Game shape..... The dude has an $11k salary and is pulling 14.0 ratings in nearly a full game with respectable GS...... its insane.

Im training RB and 1n1 and a bit more SB for this season - I'm yet to decide the 'peak' point for SB on these guys and im yet to work out what balance of skills ill sacrifice for the higher SB. I think all 3 other big man skills will need to be sacrificed for it, including RB and ID. IS the most if you have decent DR and JS, but thats going to depend for each player.

Also from a tactics perspective im almost now exclusively running 3-2 zone. I haven't had it tested out yet against really really good LI teams, so im still reserved on its performance.

Im also yet to venture into SB for guards, although my SF does have very good SB.

So thats it! I almot kinda wish this thread didn't get created, because i don't want to secret of SB to be revealed! haha.

LI continues to survive because you need only 1 skill for your bigs, who take most of the LI shots, to be successful: IS. You can even train the secondary scoring skills JS and DR at PF using 1v1 F and JS-F.

Training needs to be made easier so more people will train and we will see more diverse builds on the TL. Thats the only way we will see more SB.

Question: Would guards with high SBing also help fight against LI?

Right now I am training a guard and he is already at 8 SBing. The plan is to get him to this:

15 OD
10 SB
8 ID

How valuable is Shotblocking for guards?

As long as you play m2m they will help you. They will defend the driving layups and try to block them. Driving layups make up to 33% of all actions from the guards in LI.

Not very depends on the tactic. I think guards need reb/sb to be more effective versus LI /lp dominant teams also t expand the tactical approaches.. That what I think. Btw I have that approach now. but Take it with grain of salt.

Im see in next season if its effective.
