Round 20 Preview

Games of the round:

Usually 1v2 would be hard to go past for a Game of the Round, and i am sure WA v JW will be a cracker, however it is around the pointy end of the season that there are season defining games and for Yarra Park Bears tonights game is one.

(7-12) Yarra Park Bears @ Doncaster Flames (10-9)

Previous Meeting: Doncaster Flames vs. Yarra Park Bears 101 - 77 (52859249)

This is a must win for the Bears if they stand any chance of avoiding a big relegation series with either RED or the Gladiators. With the top two teams to finish the schedule, this may be their last chance to keep their head above water. Especially when you consider that the teams around them, Red Star and Branny have relatively easy draws on the way home.

Although 3rd spot isn't already sewn up by the Flames who at the moment have a 2 game lead over 4th (Branny), Like the Bears, the Flames have the top 2 to finish their schedule. Once again with teams like Red Star and Branny both having favourable schedules, if results dont go their way and they lose tonight they could slip as low as 5th. Although 5th is always better than 6th

So it is a crucial game for both teams.

My Prediction... Bears by 15



(5-14) RED *Season20 @ Go Aussie (11-8)

This is also a big game for both teams. For RED they are running out of opportunities to close the game to the Gladiators in 6th, and ultimately an easy relegation series. Having dropped their last 2 this is a must win if they want to steal 6th. Whereas Go Aussie are right in the mix of the playoff spots, only holding a single game lead over the Meteors in 5th. You would have to think that a win for them would basically secure on of the two playoff spots up for grab.

i was thinking more along he lines of particularly our conference. your side usually has a few contenders, JW, yourself, the relegated ABBL team. even CCCPBA was there abouts for a few seasons. but over here it seems to be a one man show most of the time

True that. It looks as if the Great 8 has better teams this season so next season might be more competitive. Our side looks like its taking a major step back with the 2 bots but could be very competitve again next season.

Screwed this one up real bad. You'd think that being an important match, that I wouldn't stuff up and actually set up tactics an my line-up. Bad enough I have bad enthus and stuffed up again 2 weeks ago setting up my line-up for a scrim, which didnt help my already bad gs. Oh well. Looks like I'm facing RED S20 in RL.

It should be a very good relegation clash. I suppose in regards to last nights game, even if you had won there is no saying that Red star with their easy schedule wouldn't have passed you anyway. All I can say is I am glad I am not in that RL

Just back here to edit my post but you replied before I could. You are not safe yet. Lew has 7 win as well as me. I play JW and WA. Lew plays Red and their rivals CCC. Who will the BB gods favour? Either way, it will be a tough match up.

very disappointed that the Bears couldnt walk away with the win. my season now relies on the result of 2 bots. not the way i had planned it

Frustrated that I lost my chance at 5th. Now I must face a tough RL. To play either you or against RED is definately not appealing and not matter what, a good manager will leave. Either way, gonna be a great battle but dissapointing.

@JW - Was a great match but that makes me spew at the same time. Bad FT shooting could just come down to the match engine calculataing attack V def but levels do play a very small part. Hopefully there will be more meetings like that next season (If you dont promote). Good luck in the playoffs.

Damn! That's disappointing... I would've been more than happy to have tanked a game in order for a good team to stay up!! I've secured 2nd spot and don't need the wins...
After WA's latest purchase my chances of promotion just dipped...
