Agreed, it works logically and allows for increased competition within a league. If you manage to promote out of it then you are better prepared. Need to keep people interested.

I think it makes sense
The better a league is, the more income they generate from tv revenue, the more share each team gets for tv money.

If they wanted to build on that idea and get more technical, individual teams should get different tv money based on the same reasoning as above. Perhaps individual games could be calculated based on the two team's salaries that are playing. Therefore two top teams from opposite conferences would generate the most tv money, as it should be, while two bottom teams would suffer. This could even put a further downer on those teams taking the option of tanking.

As it is it makes no sense that the two teams with the lowest salaries should receive equal tv money to those teams with superstar quality rosters. It's like the bobcats earning the same tv money as Miami. Mind you it would make sense that the Bobcats earnings went up the week they play Miami but suffer when they play the Kings.

Obviously it's highly unlikely that this will ever occur but i'm happy to throw the idea out there! :-)

An even revenue split on tv income is pretty much how it works in the NFL and that is supposed to be one of the best revenue sharing models around.

I don't think theres anything wrong with tanking - NBA teams do it all the time for draft picks and saving money. If BB wanted to limit the amount of money saved from tanking, they just need to increase the salary floor to something a lot higher. I'd say for our div 2 it should be at LEAST 300k. With the hit on attendance due to a losing record, that will really put a downer on how much money a tanking team can save.

I think this would widen the gap between the top teams and bottom teams even more, resulting in a less competitive league. Similar to La Liga where real Madrid and Barcelona receive a large percentage of the tv funds (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is the case), which for them is great, but fortm the rest of the league is a slow death as they are unable to pay their players wages.

Yep, I just view BB as a decent revenue sharing model

Its probably not the best time of the year to do the calculation.

IMO it should be the same across leagues for that division.

I'm pretty sure the bobcats earn the same tv money as the heat. Tv guys buy the nba rights to the nba. The nba would then share it equally amongst every team.

anyway, just kidding guys. i've a lot of respect for this league, although i'm a tiny bit disappointed by the tankers' side this season. However it looks like once again, 2.2 blue side is the toughest of all!

I think that is more opinion than fact ezlife. Last season the blue side in division II.3 was very good from top to bottom.
