This has been the easiest cup run I've ever had. I could have had more bots in the beginning (I get really paranoid about d5er's throwing CTs), but not facing anyone above mid-tier D3 by the all-star break is pretty lucky.

That said, I don't have a lot of minutes left and league is my priority so we'll just have to see what happens. Good luck everyone!

A lot of my 26-30 minute games this season have been due to blowout.
However, sometimes I also run the "PeLCD" blank lineup (dress players, don't set them in spots in the lineup, and use "Let Coach Decide" substitution). You don't get to pick where your players play, but there are a lot more substitutions -- most teams overall play slightly better due to less fatigue, and you can get better minutes distribution, but training is hard.

You might want to consider joining the USA Offsite forum where there are lots of helpful people! If you aren't already a member, that is.

i thought that way once -- i had my opponent in a corner because he had squandered his best players getting to the second Cup game of the week -- but after he played his normal squad (and beat me) i remembered All-Star week is a good week to train Game Shape.

And the Visionaries' starters only play 30 minutes a game because the team is so much &^%^&%# better than his opponents in this league.

If i were you? congratulate yourself on a great Cup run, train some youngsters, save your starters, TIE, and get ready for Saturday.

Emerging from the carnage, alive and kicking, preparing for Round 9, the Sweet Sixteen:

Visionaries get a reminder of their past and a vision of their future as they host the Bruins.

Window Lickers will see how quickly their newbies have grasped The System as they visit Liberty and Power.

Good luck to both.

Visionaries aren't the only team trying to promote this season...

oh, i understand, but i was very traumatized by what they did to my squad at home. i hadn't been so thoroughly trounced in quite a while --

it may well only be how his squad matches up against my squad -- but apparently a lot of squads haven't matched up so well with him so far this season . . .

that said, veteran coaches have seen all this happen:
-- big purchases that alter the balance of power
-- UK can still end up with a crucial HCA through the playoffs
-- injuries
-- teams put a combination of players on the floor that they have been hiding for all or most of the season

but right now, i am going on the assumption that team's salaries will cap a bit below $600,000. If that is the case, you, the Visionaries have little wiggle room, and the Flash Mashers and the Window Lickers (after their recent shopping spree) are close to it. other teams (Rdkin, ATL) could make a big move. i think the odds of the team advancing from these six is overwhelming.

and within that six, the Visionaries have a real nice balance, with maybe a weakness inside. i like teams with depth, and that is a point he has over your squad, as good as it is. Flash Masher has a very good squad, and that expensive big man he got will eventually get into games and who knows how that will work out -- especially as FM has ruminated about blowing it all up. i could be wrong, but i get the feeling Window Lickers wanted to win a Cup game, and that trumped a longer-range plan -- but he certainly did not dump millions, and those millions could cover a $750,000 team salary for a few weeks.

so you're right, the season is hardly over, much less the playoffs, but i think right now the Visionaries are in the pole position.

The thing that worries me most about the Visionaries is that I have no idea how much money he has left from last season... The last thing I want is to make another big purchase and then for him to turn around and outspend me
